Am I the only one who has noticed that the Obama political machine has been lining up with the DSA-linked candidates this election cycle?
I can’t say for sure whether this comes down from the top or not—Barack Obama did warn us that he wanted to fundamentally change America, and Bill Ayers was one of his mentors, so it is quite possible — but there is no doubt that his minions have been strongly backing the radical wing of the Democrat Party.
Morris Katz is famously a disciple of David Axelrod, and he has been the whiz kid behind Mamdani, Platner (what a miss that was), and other radical candidates.
Axelrod seems quite warm to the Islamists, despite his being nominally Jewish, too.
So @davidaxelrod pulled the “as a Jew” move on CNN tonight — right on cue. So @davidaxelrod pulled the “as a Jew” move on CNN tonight — right on cue. He opens by invoking that he “speaks as the son of a Jewish refugee,” then uses that cover to call it “a legitimate question” whether AIPAC should be treated as “an agent of any foreign government, whether it’s Israel or other.” That’s not commentary on money in politics. That’s laundering the oldest antisemitic trope in American politics through a Jewish messenger — which is exactly why it works on air.
It took @VanJones68, not Axelrod, to say the obvious: no, AIPAC isn’t a foreign agent, it’s American Jews organizing around Israel. Then Jones went further and corrected the substance too — American Jews might include that El-Sayed “is not our guy.”
Progressive Jews keep doing this: reaching for their own Jewishness to give an antisemitic framing permission to exist on-air, then stepping back and letting it work.
The Pod Save America guys, Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett, Tommy Vietor, and Dan Pfeiffer are all top-level alumni of the Obama administration, and they have been cheering the movement on with great enthusiasm.
Axelrod seems to be grooming AOC for a presidential run, although it’s hard to say whether he has chosen her as THE candidate to back or whether he is testing her out to see if she can round out her skillset, such as it is, by developing an international reputation and some foreign policy chops.
If that is his goal, it’s hard to say that it has been a success, but he has another year plus to get her boned up.
Favreau is turning to helping out Francesca Hong, which seems like a lost cause. If you look through his X feed it is featuring every radical candidate you can find.
I asked Hong about her 2020 post saying police should be abolished and “exist to uphold white supremacy.”
Her answer: pic.twitter.com/ex9Bpyr9YC

The Pod Save America boys are even trying to normalize (and sand the edges off) Hasan Piker, probably to make it seem normal for Piker to be campaigning for Democrat candidates who seem attracted to him as cats are to catnip.
Obama himself seems to be keeping himself more or less above the fray on the flashpoints, probably to maintain his connections and influence with the Democrat establishment and the money people who are so important to his power base.
But there is little doubt that the people closest to him have chosen a side in the simmering civil war in the Democrat Party, and it sure isn’t the Organized Crime Democrats, as useful as they are; it’s the Bolsheviks.
