Hillary Clinton has finally identified a Republican message she believes can hammer Democrats at the ballot box.

In a rare moment of political clarity, the former secretary of state admitted that warnings about socialism and communism could prove highly effective.

Clinton made the comments during an appearance on Kara Swisher’s Pivot podcast.

Her broader discussion offered a revealing glimpse into Democratic fears about government personnel, party loyalty, and the growing power of the socialist left.

Earlier in the conversation, Clinton argued that a future Democratic president would need to “search” for Trump supporters serving throughout the federal civil service.

Her concern was that even employees in relatively minor positions could frustrate or obstruct a Democratic administration’s agenda.

That argument sounded remarkably similar to the deep state concerns Democrats have spent years mocking Republicans for raising.

Apparently, bureaucratic resistance becomes alarming only when the permanent government might interfere with policies approved by the left.

Clinton then turned to the Democratic divide playing out in the Michigan Senate race.

She acknowledged that progressive activists and socialist candidates have not always supported the party nominee after losing an internal contest.

“One thing that we haven’t yet seen enough of is that when the progressives, the left,” Clinton said, before describing “whatever we want to call, you know, candidates on that side of the Democratic Party” and their refusal to support nominees.

“When they lose, they often don’t support the candidate that has been nominated,” she said.

Clinton pointed directly to her own experience and the struggles of former Vice President Kamala Harris.

“You know, there was a lot of reluctance to support Kamala Harris. There was a lot of reluctance to support me when I got the nomination.”

She argued that party loyalty cannot flow in only one direction, especially when progressive candidates demand support from establishment Democrats.

Yet the socialist wing frequently treats compromise as betrayal while expecting everyone else to salute once its preferred candidate wins.

Clinton also warned that the Democratic nominee in Michigan would need support from voters who backed Haley Stevens.

“If we’re going to have a fair election, as there was in Michigan, and somebody comes out ahead, a little bit ahead, but needs to get a huge percentage of the voters that voted for Haley, they’re going to have to be willing to, you know, get in,” she said.

Clinton continued by urging candidates to “get into a conversation that brings those people over,” adding that independents and Stevens supporters will be central to the contest.

That is basic political outreach, but apparently it is controversial among activists who prefer insults to persuasion.

Hasan Piker, one of Abdul El Sayed’s most prominent supporters, provided a useful demonstration of the problem.

When Democrats suggested that the El Sayed campaign needed to reach out to skeptical voters, Piker called them “Islamophobic pieces of sh**.”

Nothing says broad electoral appeal quite like cursing members of your own coalition for suggesting that a candidate speak with voters.

That response helps explain why Clinton fears the party’s ideological activists could repel the very people Democrats need in a close general election.

Clinton then revealed the Republican argument she believes could land with voters far beyond Michigan.

“And you can see that it’s not just about Michigan, but the Republican messaging is communist, socialist. It’s going to be a very effective attack,” she said.

“People on the left have to be prepared to answer that.”

On this narrow point, Clinton is correct.

WATCH:

Republicans can effectively attack Democrats as socialists because an increasingly influential part of the Democratic Party openly embraces socialist ideas, radical economic policies, and government control over more areas of American life.

Most Americans are not interested in becoming test subjects for another grand socialist experiment.

They understand that massive spending, punishing taxes, heavy regulation, and centralized power do not produce prosperity, regardless of how many activists dress those policies up with fashionable slogans.

That creates an opening for Republican Mike Rogers in Michigan.

Rogers is reaching out to Democrats, independents, and moderate voters who feel abandoned by a party increasingly controlled by its loudest and most radical voices.

Even a former Clinton pollster reportedly believes Rogers could gain roughly 5 percent from those alienated voters.

WATCH:

In a close Senate race, that movement could decide the outcome and help Republicans protect President Trump’s America First agenda in Congress.

Republicans should make the contrast unmistakable by focusing on economic growth, public safety, limited government, and the destructive record of socialist policies.

Clinton has now warned Democrats that the message will work, and judging by the angry reaction from the left, she struck a nerve.
