Scott Eastwood Says His Dad Sent Kevin Costner Home From the Set of ‘A Perfect World’ [WATCH]

Scott Eastwood is opening up about a memorable story involving his father, Clint Eastwood, and Kevin Costner on the set of “A Perfect World.”

According to Scott, Clint sent Costner home after the actor would not leave his trailer for a scene, as reported by Fox News.

During a recent appearance on the “Armchair Expert” podcast, the 40-year-old actor described the respect his father commands while working.

Scott said everybody has “a lot of respect” for Clint on set and that the filmmaker “didn’t raise his voice ever.”

Scott introduced the account as a “legendary story,” but he also made clear that he might not recall every detail precisely. “I’m sort of going to paraphrase it, and I’ll probably tell it a little wrong.”

He then described what he had heard about Costner during production of the film.

“Kevin Costner sort of going through maybe the Kevin Costner rise to fame and maybe got a big ego, you know, blah blah blah, but they were doing ‘Perfect World,’” he said.

“Apparently, he didn’t want to come out of his trailer for some reason.”

Clint both directed and starred in “A Perfect World,” while Costner was scheduled to appear in the scene being filmed that day.

Scott said his father responded to the situation without raising his voice or creating a loud confrontation.

Instead, Clint delivered a short instruction that immediately changed the day’s filming plans.

Scott recalled his father responding, “Well, send him home then,” despite Costner’s planned involvement in the scene.

Scott said Costner was then informed that he would be leaving the production for the day.

“So he sent him home, and I guess they just went to Kevin and said, ‘Hey, you’re going to go home for the day,’” Scott explained.

He also recounted Costner’s apparent confusion over the decision. “He said, ‘What do you mean I’m in the scene?’ You know, ‘Well, I guess you’re not anymore. Clint changed that.’”

According to Scott, the move appeared to have an immediate effect when production resumed. “I think the next day he was on set ready to go.”

Fox News Digital reached out to representatives for Costner for comment.

The account presented during the podcast came from Scott, who repeatedly framed it as a story he was retelling and acknowledged that he might recount some details incorrectly.

In “A Perfect World,” Costner plays an escaped convict who kidnaps a young child. Clint portrays a Texas ranger searching for Costner’s character and the young boy.

Scott has previously discussed how growing up with a famous father shaped his own work ethic and the way he behaves on film sets.

During a June episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience,” he said he witnessed some behavior within the entertainment business that he found shocking.

The “Wrath of Man” star explained that visiting his father’s sets when he was younger exposed him to examples of conduct he did not consider acceptable.

At the same time, Scott said Clint protected him and his siblings from the dangers connected to becoming famous during childhood.

The topic arose while Scott and Joe Rogan were discussing performers who achieved fame at a very young age. Scott said, “You get stunted in your growth” when fame arrives too early.

Scott credited his father with giving the family a more private childhood away from Los Angeles. “I mean, kudos to my dad, [be]cause he did a really good job of protecting us from that and very private,” he said.

“We didn’t live in LA, we lived in Carmel. It was a very… as normal as it could be, in the sense that he was like, ‘No, you just you need to be a normal child and learn how the world works.’”

After Scott found success as an actor, he once bought his father a Silverado truck for Christmas.

His comments about Costner offered another glimpse into the standards he says Clint maintained while working on a movie set.
