California Gun Laws Fail to Keep Worst Kind of Person Disarmed

We can debate what the worst crime in the world is, but to me, anyone who hurts a child is going to be at the top of the list. The worst the hurt, the worse they are in my book. I get that some people out there think that the issue is how we treat these individuals, but I honestly don’t care. Pedos deserve the wood chipper set on slow, in my not-so-humble opinion.

Look, when the hardened felons in prison also despise someone the rest of society hates, you know you’re dealing with the most vile people imaginable.

Despite that status, it seems California gun laws were insufficient to keep at least one of them disarmed.

A registered sex offender on parole was arraigned Monday on child molestation and firearm charges following his arrest by Chico Police detectives last week.

Christopher Carter, 58, is accused of sexually abusing a child while the child was in his care, according to Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey.

The investigation began last month after the child told a parent that Carter had touched the child inappropriately. 

The investigation led to an arrest warrant for Carter and a search warrant for evidence related to the case. Carter was in the process of moving from his Chico home to an Oroville address when the warrants were served.

Both homes were searched, and investigators seized evidence related to the investigation, along with a firearm Carter was prohibited from possessing because he is a convicted felon.

Carter was convicted in 2014 of “multiple” sex offenses toward a minor and spent more than five-and-a-half years in prison before being paroled in August, 2018.

Now, he’s looking at going back to prison.

I don’t know if the person who left a child in Carter’s care was unaware of the charges, or if Carter gave them a song and dance about how it wasn’t quite what it looks like — “But she looked 19, I swear it!” — but if they knew, they deserve to have a book thrown at them, too.

Still, the point here is that a person like this, who even the criminals despise, was able to get himself a firearm in the most gun-controlled state in the nation. It’s unlikely that criminal buddies hooked him up because about the only people who willingly associate with people who touch kids are other people who touch kids. They’re not getting guns, either, and the crooks are more likely to use a gun on such a person than sell him one…at least, that’s the case if they’re aware of his history.

Maybe the black market dealer or whoever was oblivious to Carter’s history.

I don’t know. What I do know is that despite the tough gun laws that we’re assured really do work, the worst kind of person was able to get a gun after his conviction.

What will it take for these people to finally recognize that gun control doesn’t actually work?

I know that a lot of them don’t actually care, even if it’s pedophiles getting guns, but some of them actually drank the Kool-Aid.
