Minnesota Pravda

Minnesota will have its first female governor regardless of which party wins the general election.

That’s because both the Republicans and the Democrats nominated female candidates, and to add a twist, the Republican nominee is a black woman who is currently the Speaker of the Minnesota House of Representatives, elected to that position when the Minnesota House was temporarily run with a Republican majority.

So how did the Minnesota Star Tribune, the state’s largest newspaper, cover the stories of each woman’s victory? You don’t have to guess, although you could easily have, because I have the headlines for you.

The Local Media in Minnesota is such a clown show

Last night two Women won their respective primaries for Governor, meaning MN gets its first Woman Governor

Let’s leave aside the inherent transphobia of the Star Tribune’s assumption that Amy Klobuchar is a woman, even though liberals claim that it takes a genital check, a clairvoyant, and a shaman’s word to determine such things, and focus on the actual circumstances of the two choices made in the primary election yesterday.

Lisa DeMuth, the Republican nominee, won despite the fact that she is a relative newcomer to Minnesota statewide politics — few people knew her name before she became Speaker a bit over a year ago — and she defeated an extremely well-known and, among a large group of Trump enthusiasts, beloved figure, Mike Lindell, the MyPillow guy. Trump had endorsed Lindell a while back, although many noted that in his pre-primary push, Trump did leave Lindell off his list of “must-wins.”

The “smart” money was on Lindell, although DeMuth was the mainstream Republicans’ favorite. And there was a popular third choice as well, Kendall Qualls, who pulled a respectable 20 percent of the vote and probably would have done better had he not stumbled in his choice for Lieutenant Governor. Qualls is also black, meaning that 65 percent of Republicans voted for a black candidate for governor.

Amy Klobuchar, on the other hand, has been a fixture in Minnesota politics for decades and is part of a family dynasty of well-known celebrities that stretches back even more decades. She has been a Minnesota juggernaut for some reason and is considered unbeatable, with a long political history to back it up.

Yet it was HER election, in which she was essentially unopposed, that merited the big “First!” for the Star Tribune. DeMuth is an irrelevant also-ran, and we all know why. She counts as neither female nor black because she is a Republican. It’s tiresome that they even had to note her existence.

What can be more Pravda than this?

Klobuchar has gotten star treatment from the Star Tribune throughout her entire political career, not coincidentally because her father was a beloved columnist at the paper for decades. While her success is not as utterly dependent on the goodwill of other, better people in the manner that Kamala Harris’ was, she certainly rose on the coattails of others.

DeMuth, on the other hand, has no political pedigree and was elected as a moderate black woman in a semi-rural area that has a white population of over 90 percent. Nothing remarkable there at all. If she were a Democrat, she would be the talk of the country, but as a pro-life Republican, she will be demonized. No doubt we will see some Handmaid’s Tale costumes pulled out at her rallies.

The Senate race will feature Michelle Tafoya, a moderate Republican (who is pro-choice), versus Peggy Flanagan, the radical leftist who helped preside over the Somali Fraud scandal as Lieutenant Governor. But because she is part White Earth Native American, she will be portrayed as another “First.”

That’s how Pravda works.
