Former ‘RHOC’ star claims Andy Cohen added MAGA women for Bravo ratings boost

Former “Real Housewives of Orange County” star Kelly Dodd claimed that Bravo host Andy Cohen was “full of s—” Tuesday after he defended the inclusion of “MAGA women” on the show.

Dodd spoke to Fox News Digital after the “Watch What Happens Live” host was asked on Threads why there were “so many MAGA women” on the series, particularly the “Orange County” season.

“If we didn’t showcase people with different POV’s there would be no show. Also it’s a show about the women and their relationships, not about politics,” Cohen wrote on Sunday.

Dodd called out this comment, claiming that Cohen and Bravo did not care for conservative perspectives on the show before and have since become concerned only about ratings.

“They’re making excuses that they need points of views when I don’t think that’s true,” Dodd said, adding, “He doesn’t have different points of view. I think he’s full of s—.”

Dodd pointed to Cohen’s past comments attacking conservatives and right-leaning perspectives and viewed his Threads comment, and the show welcoming different types of women, as disingenuous.

“I think that he sees that the ratings are slipping, and he needs to get back some conservative. He’s lost half of his audience. Any time you talk, speak about politics… You’re gonna p— off half the country,” Dodd said.

Cohen, however, agreed that the “Real Housewives” brand was not political in any way and that she herself had not discussed politics prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The show is not about politics, it’s about women’s lives. It’s not about politics. No one’s running for office or no one’s talking about politics,” Dodd said.

Bravo and its parent company NBCUniversal declined to comment. 

Fox News Digital also reached out to Cohen’s representative for comment but did not immediately hear back.

Dodd was among multiple women who were fired or left the franchise after making controversial comments or criticizing left-wing politics. Dodd was previously fired from the series in 2021 following controversial remarks about the COVID-19 pandemic and accusations of her mocking the Black Lives Matter movement.

Former cast member Annemarie Wiley, of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” also spoke to Fox News Digital last year about no longer being invited to the show after leaving in 2024 for expressing conservative views, like protecting girls’ sports.

“I was given a terrible edit by Bravo and I found out after the season was finished when they didn’t invite me back, that that was the reason that I was given that edit, apparently… because I was a conservative,” Wiley told Fox News Digital.

Earlier this year, NBCUniversal boasted that Bravo was “a top cable entertainment network among key female demos” with Q1 2026 scoring Bravo’s biggest quarter on the streaming service Peacock.

However, seasons of the “Real Housewives” franchise have reportedly seen declining ratings in recent years.
