So much of what we see and hear about what’s happening in the world is shaped to influence how we think.

While some of us are more immune to propaganda than others, unless we follow alternative news sources or live on X, many of us never hear anything that contradicts the Narrative™ being pushed out. We may recognize that we are being manipulated, but we still aren’t sure what is real and what isn’t.

But sometimes reality accidentally gets through the ideological filters, or a reporter manages to present a good story despite the usual barriers. And the reaction from the Pravda true believers is something to behold. It’s as if the facts are challenging their reality. No doubt they will memory-hole what they learn, but it’s still entertaining to watch.

This is incredible. The lone juror keeping Lindsay Clancy from getting away with child killing is a black man being bossed around by a bunch of white women. Amazing. https://t.co/YVrJQJjWac

NEW: Lindsay Clancy juror Paula Devlin reveals on ‘CBS Mornings’ that the lone, male holdout juror who voted to find Clancy guilty of murdering her children was the *only* person of color — a black man.

The 11 not-guilty jurors — who hectored him for a week to cave — were all white.

That just happened with regard to the Lindsay Clancy juror deliberations, and it blew Gail King away right there on live TV.

King just assumed that a black man would be pro-criminal, and when that turned out not to be true, it was so shocking that she was nearly left speechless. No doubt part of the reaction had to do with King’s own, likely, sympathy for Clancy, since it appears that women are more likely to sympathize with female child killers than one would expect.

There actually IS some evidence that black jurors tend to be more sympathetic to perpetrators of crimes, but only when they are black. There is a large body of evidence that black jurors tend to be more sympathetic to minority defendants than to whites, while there is a fair amount of evidence that white jurors tend to overcorrect and be somewhat more lenient on black defendants. The effects are usually small, but consistent.

We have zero evidence that race played any role in the jury deliberations, while there is overwhelming evidence that sex-based solidarity did. Nobody doubts that if a man had committed the same crime, he would be on his way to several lifetime sentences, mental illness or no.

Insanity defenses almost always fail. Prosecutors are much more likely than juries to take mental illness into account and accept pleas; jurors almost never accept them, although it sounds like this jury wanted to.

Except for one black man, who apparently was not insane himself. He looked at the evidence, and it was clear: she was guilty as sin.

Bravo, dude.

The media almost always sympathizes with the accused, except when they are white males, and in liberal jurisdictions, being a minority is a huge advantage in escaping prosecution or getting leniency. While the U.S. doesn’t have any formal mechanism to give brownie points for being a minority, some Western countries actually assign less responsibility to black and brown people for being “oppressed.” Not so for Asians and whites.

We live in an interesting country where verified suicides are reported as lynchings and a guy getting beheaded in a public park is not reported at all. https://t.co/kprf7yhW2Q

A great example is this black man who killed a man and tried to behead him, and the reporting of suicides or murders of black people by black men as lynchings.

If you follow Pravda Media, you may believe that lynchings are back. They aren’t. Just as all those reports of nooses on college campuses are hoaxes. They are as real as Jussie Smollett being attacked for being a black gay man in Chicago.

The media invents and propagates narratives, then act surprised when something doesn’t fit their preferred narrative.

There’s nothing surprising at all, though. Law-abiding black people hate criminals more than white people because they are much more likely to be crime victims. “Defund the police” is a white leftist narrative, while blacks want more police, unless they are criminals.

Black people are also much more likely to support Flock cameras in their communities than white people. Go figure, right? It’s almost like they don’t like to be victimized by criminals, and there is no solidarity with the predators in their midst.

It is true that blacks are more sympathetic to the idea that other blacks are subject to unfair police practices and more likely to be open to that argument, partly based on racial solidarity and partly based on their perceptions that it is simply true, but in the end they don’t want to be victimized, and that often tips the balance.

King shouldn’t have been surprised that a black man didn’t swoon when he saw a child killer in a wheelchair. She actually did plot to kill her kids and looked them in the eyes as she did it. And he certainly was unlikely to be swayed by a bunch of women whose daily entertainment is watching The View.

Good for him.
