A video shared online captured the encounter moments before the game. Kelce was walking off the field after removing the glove from his right hand.

As the tight end headed toward the locker room, he reached toward several fans who were waiting nearby.

Kelce appeared ready to exchange fist bumps with members of the crowd before one eager spectator grabbed at the glove he was carrying.

The fan yanked on the piece of Chiefs gear instead of simply completing the greeting. Kelce reacted immediately by swatting the person’s hand away.

Kelce also scolded the aggressive fan following the attempted grab. His response brought the brief encounter to an abrupt end as he continued making his way away from the field.

The footage soon prompted divided reactions from social media users. Some focused on the fan’s decision to reach for the glove, while others said they understood how the gesture might have created confusion.

One user questioned why anyone would believe Kelce was giving away part of his game gear before kickoff.

That commenter also acknowledged that the way Kelce was holding the glove may have contributed to the moment.

The uncomfortable interaction did not stop Kelce from taking the field with the Chiefs. Kansas City went on to defeat the Broncos 31 to 10 during the season opener.

The game was played at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. Kelce, 36, returned to the field after what was described as an uncertain few months.

His wife, Taylor Swift, supported him from the stands during Monday’s game. The appearance also marked another public moment for the couple following their wedding.

Swift attended the Chiefs game with her parents, Andrea and Scott Swift. Kelce’s mother, Donna Kelce, his father, Ed Kelce, and his brother, Jason Kelce, were also present in the stands.
