In the wake of the deadlocked Lindsay Clancy jury, socialist Massachusetts governor Maura Healey has set off another post-partum firestorm with comments she made on public radio last week.
Taken as they come straight out of her mouth, they seem pretty unambiguous to me.

Healey is quite clear about what she intends, speaking of the ‘healthcare provider’ who is going to appear at their door (‘you’re GOING TO HAVE a home visit…’) within ‘days, weeks,’ to ‘make an assessment,’ and see if the parents need ‘more resources.’
As Massachusetts is a state notorious for taking children from parents, no worries, right?
These proposed ‘visits’ will be a statewide expansion of an already existing program that’s voluntary.
Massachusetts is expanding a taxpayer-funded program that sends nurses into the homes of new parents after childbirth, fueling debate over the government’s role in family health care.
Gov. Maura Healey recently announced plans to invest $2 million to expand the state’s Welcome Family program, which offers voluntary home visits from registered nurses after the birth of a child. Healey also proposed an additional $250,000 to strengthen the Massachusetts Child Psychiatry Access Program for Moms, which provides mental health support to providers caring for pregnant and postpartum patients.
“Everybody in the state, when you have a baby, you’re going to have a home visit within days, weeks and that will be an opportunity for a healthcare provider to make an assessment to see if you need some additional support and resources,” Healey said during an interview last week on Boston Public Radio.
The immediate reaction was, ‘Who the HELL are YOU, lady?’, to send the government banging on doors, uninvited and unwanted, to determine how the parents are treating newborns. Her phraseology smacked of intrusion and government overreach, which she is already pretty well associated with.

…The announcement also sparked debate on social media, where some users questioned whether the program represented an appropriate role for government. “Doctors and pediatricians are more than capable to conduct appropriate screenings for their patients. Say no to home visits,” one user wrote on X, while another called the program “creepy” and “massive government overreach.”
I mean, she is this ‘Maura Healey.’

The local Boston channels were kinder and gentler about Healey’s announcement, swaddling it in a ‘maternal mental health support’ cocoon.

And the bots proceeded to deploy across X, dropping chapter and verse into comments to dispel the impression that this act of compassion on the part of the state was ever going to be anything but voluntary.

The state is also busy cleaning up what many look at as the governor’s Freudian slip.
No families are required to participate…
…Healey proposed providing free home visits by nurses to all parents with newborns as well as updated regulations governing mental health screening of new mothers.
“To every mom who has struggled with her mental health before, during or after pregnancy, I want you to know we see you — I see you,” Healey said during a visit to Boston’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
“We need to talk more openly about this,” said Healey, who signed a maternal health law in 2024 that expanded access to doulas, midwives and birth centers, and required insurers to cover postpartum depression screenings.
…No families would be required to participate, but those who do can have a nurse visit and answer questions about feeding, sleep, and caring for a new baby.
The nurse would also monitor mothers’ postpartum health, as well as screen for depression and other mental health concerns.
This would be the first state investment in a federally funded program that currently provides nurse visits to about 3,000 families each year, Healey said.

Healey is jumping on the Clancy pink-shirted fan club publicity train, and it’s the worst sort of cynical association possible.
Lindsay Clancy had every doctor available. She had every therapist she could have ever asked for.
But, yeah – someone should have been banging at that door to get those kids out of that house, because according to all the testimony, plenty of professionals knew how Lindsay Clancy felt and should have known what she was capable of.
Maura Healey’s in an election race right now that has her polling almost twenty points ahead of her Republican challenger, a normal, decent kind of guy named Mike Minogue.
Who, to be honest, doesn’t have a prayer in hell because he speaks ‘normally.’
The contrast in the Massachusetts governor’s race could not be more revealing.

…smeared PragerU as “anti-gay racist propaganda,” and portrayed anyone who disagrees with her as racist, anti-gay, extremist, and dangerous.
Mike Minogue (R) thanked God, his family, veterans, teachers, nurses, fishermen, small-business owners, and the people who supported his opponents.
Healey screamed about Trump.
Minogue talked about affordable housing, better schools, lower energy costs, safer communities, accountable government, ending sanctuary-state policies, and dismantling the one-party system that has made Massachusetts unaffordable.
Healey offered fear, division, and recycled political smears.
Minogue offered service, gratitude, accountability, and a message to people who did not vote for him… “You have a home here. You are welcome here.”
One candidate believes Massachusetts belongs to the Democratic establishment.
The other believes it belongs to the people who live, work, raise families, and pay taxes there.
That is the choice in November.
Whatever whackjob hormones are in the water up there won’t clear out in time for a rational Republican to have a prayer. Healey will do her level best to leverage whatever tragedy happens in the meantime to reach more of the AWFLs (and the weak-kneed men who enable them), keeping her and Michelle ‘Mayor of Crazytown’ Wu safe in their office chairs.
