Dem Rep. Making Sure Austin Stays Angry Over ICE Shooting

Austin has its woke knickers in a wad, and a Democrat congressman, who used to be on the city council, is doing everything he can to keep the inmates riled up.

An illegal Venezuelan named Wilber Rafael Garces Perez, with a final order of deportation, was encountered by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers yesterday while working routine license plate checks and, in the course of his speeding away, gunfire rang out. He was shot, although, thank goodness, not fatally.

 The national media were certainly helping Congressman Greg Casar pump up the outrage meter before any real details were available.

They did everything but call him ‘Texas Man.’

THEIR people, which pandering Democrat politicians like Rep. Casar are using to virtue signal how much they care because they want to be reelected by their people.

Casar has never demonstrated any care for his people – his constituents.

When he was an Austin City Councilman, he oversaw the decimation of the Austin Police Department and the crime rate in that city has blown out of proportion.

 Onlookers were disgusted as the Spanish-speaking congressman rushed to the news conference to rant against ICE for an event that had not even occurred in his district.

Gotta get those heroic sound bites in for campaign ads to impress the illegal voters who, they tell us, never vote.

Before he was a congressman, Greg Casar sat on the Austin City Council, where he took $150 million out of Austin’s police budget and deleted 150 officer positions. Then Austin set a homicide record, and the streets spiraled into disorder we’re still living with today.

Today, Mayor @KirkPWatson and @APDChiefDavis  handed Rep. Casar the city’s podium over a shooting that didn’t even happen in his district. He used it to tell Austin that ICE shoots and kills people “with impunity” and needs to leave town.

His name might not ring a bell right off the bat, but his last stunt at the Capitol surely will. He was the ‘thirst striker’ on the steps, grimacing like one of the fellows playing a gladiator in the old Italian stop-motion movies. You can almost hear his agonized groan as Capitol babes daubed his sweaty brow with cool cloths and Eric Swalwell rubbed his moist thigh, wishing he, too, had the courage not to order DoorDash until 6 PM

Over and over, ICE has shot people and then lied about what happened. We can see the lies with our own eyes. We will demand truth, transparency and accountability.

There are still no details from the Department of Homeland Security on the particulars as far as the chain of events, which is a shame. The lack of clarification is leaving the field wide open, but I do understand they and their FBI partners want all their ducks in a row.

…It’s still not clear exactly what happened during the law enforcement operation before the ICE agent opened fire in North Austin.

Austin-Travis County EMS Chief Rob Luckritz said emergency crews were notified of a reported shooting at about 12:56 p.m. in the 8000 block of Anderson Square.

Paramedics arrived within about 3 1/2 minutes and found an adult man with a gunshot wound. The man was transported to a local trauma center in serious but stable condition.

Luckritz said the patient was taken from the scene within nine minutes of EMS crews’ arrival.

…APD Chief Lisa Davis said the shooting involved a federal agent and later confirmed she had been told the agent was with ICE.

Austin police were not involved in the shooting. Officers helped block roads and direct traffic near Research Boulevard and Anderson Square.

Davis said the Austin Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit, which investigates officer-involved shootings, was at the scene.

She said she had not yet been briefed by federal authorities about the operation. Davis said she had heard there was a brief foot pursuit, but emphasized that the information was preliminary.

The illegal Venezuelan was released from the hospital to ICE custody, and now the battle has shifted to his lawyers vs. wherever he’s being detained.

In the meantime, Casar is holding court every chance he gets, vilifying the federal officers, and telling them to leave Austin be.

Austin likes not enforcing the law.
