There are some times when I can go weeks without a single climate cult post, and I’ll kind of start to think, ‘Well, wow. Maybe things have chilled out some and the nutjobs have given up.’
And I’m always wrong.
For example, like yesterday, when I heard New York City has to buy natural gas-powered buses for its Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) because the electric buses they already spent enormous cha-ching on only got out of the garage 60 percent of the time.

But anyone could have told the authorities in the city and state (as well as the school boards I included in the story) and probably did try. But the Cult of Climate is blind, deaf, and dumb – mostly dumb – when it comes to listening to reason and instituting some measure of common sense as they move forward.
There are no ‘Plan B’s’ or contingency arrangements for ‘what if this doesn’t work as advertised,’ as it invariably does not.
All they know is the fever in their green-dreams-rotted brains is talking to the money burning holes in their clenched fists, and they’re on a roll, which inevitably leads to a crash-and-burn.
And now here I am, not 24 hours later, trying to type while still shaking my head.
Okay. And snickering…a bunch.
Because the NetZero-mad Labour Party has come up with a banger, even as their country slips further into a near-apocalyptic energy situation.
Just so you have an idea of how desperate and, once again, near-disaster the British grid was, this is what their system operator had to pay to purchase power the night before last, as things became critical. It cost British ratepayers almost £600MWh to cover the power shortfall.

So, the country is, as you see above, nearly always in crisis mode when it comes to power generation, either begging from the continent to send more across the trunk lines from France or even further afield. Or paying through the nose to fire up the natural gas plants they have allowed to stay operational because they’ve found the country cannot survive without having those to fire up for production, even if it’s only a few very expensive hours.
States of emergency happen more often than not these days.
Yet Ed Miliband will insist on more solar farms, windmills, and massive battery storage facilities instead of modernizing the gas plants they do have, utilizing North Sea natgas wells, and building nuclear reactors.
There’s also been a massive effort on the part of the British climate cultists in government to force homeowners into electric heat pumps instead of their old boiler system. It hasn’t been all that successful, as the costs are prohibitive, and the resistance, as futile as it may eventually be, has been stiff.
Don’t think that has slowed the big thinkers in the Labor government from finding a workaround.

The UK has warned countries around the world that the climate and nature crises and the coming El Niño threaten their national security and defence, presenting foreign ministries with the findings of a report suppressed under Keir Starmer.
Ed Miliband, the UK’s foreign secretary, made a presentation to the foreign ministers of the EU as well as Kenya and other countries on Wednesday night at a private meeting during the UN general assembly in New York, based on the report by the UK’s spy chiefs that found the collapse of natural systems around the world would lead to conflict, migration and food shortages.
Miliband told the meeting, the first such discussion among foreign ministers, that the coming El Niño, which has been supercharged by climate breakdown, would test the world’s food systems as never before.
“We face an El Niño that is already set to be the most intense in living memory,” he said. “This will intensify climate shocks that compound and cascade across borders, threatening food and water security, displacing communities, putting pressure on markets and scarring economies.”
I mean, I could believe Miliband was worried about the world’s food supply if only he wasn’t busy stealing UK farmland for his windmills and solar farms. When he stops that, I might really think about it.
In the meantime, a little background.
Those of you who have been stationed overseas in the Orient, like Japan or Korea, for instance, or some parts of Europe where you lived close to the city, are familiar with the concept of ‘district heating.’ That’s where a house or apartment – or, in our case in Iwakuni, all the barracks, hangars, and offices – don’t have their own heating units. They use heat dispensed from a centralized plant and piped into buildings. In Iwakuni, that meant streets with big elevated steam pipes running above the roads, alongside all your electrical and phone lines. If you’re walking on the sidewalk on a cold winter’s day, you’ll hear the banging as the steam makes its way from the plant through the pipes, and the joints expand and groan with the pressure and temperature changes.
In Europe, many of the apartment and office buildings are run off of a municipal ‘district heating’ arrangement.
Some of our American research universities plan to use their new Micro Modular Energy Reactor Systems for district heating on campus.
In the age of data centers, with the tremendous amount of excess energy they expel as heat, this has given the Europeans (and this is critical) who already have the district heating infrastructure in place some wicked cool ways to utilize this unexpected bounty.

…waste heat generated by data-centre cooling is captured and transferred into the district-heating grid, providing carbon-neutral heat to thousands of homes and public buildings. This reuse of thermal energy helps reduce reliance on fossil-fuel heating, cuts emissions, and turns the by-product heat from digital infrastructure into a genuine resource rather than waste.
Here’s where the problem comes in with Britain. Their NetZero crazies saw this idea, loved it, and said, ‘Money’s no object when you’re saving Gaia, so LFG!‘
They do not have the infrastructure, but when have little things like that ever stopped a cultist?
Exactly.
So here’s their £41m plan – big boats filled with hot water.
Labour has launched a net zero scheme to transport hot water on barges on the River Thames to heat London homes.
The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) has earmarked £41m for a project to launch electric boats that will travel upriver from a power plant in Belvedere, south east London, before pumping water into storage tanks on riverside pontoons.
From here, the water, heated to almost 100 degrees Celsius, would flow through pipes into nearby heat networks, which are systems that supply hot water to multiple buildings from a centralised heat source, rather than each property having its own boiler. The Government has claimed the project could eventually supply up to 650,000 homes.
The scheme, believed to be the first of its kind anywhere in the world, could also serve London landmarks, including the National Theatre, when it launches in 2028.
The Telegraph understands that most of the £41m funding will go towards extracting waste heat from the Belvedere power plant to warm the water, as well as building four barges. Each barge could hold two million litres of water, equivalent to 80pc of the volume of an Olympic-sized swimming pool.

That’s the plan.
The ‘heat networks’ that the water goes through, well…they’re going to cost a little more.
£1.1bn to start.
…It comes as part of the Government’s plan to roll out heat networks to as many as five million households in Britain by 2050. Under plans drawn up by Ed Miliband, the former energy secretary, Labour is expected to spend £1.1bn on heat networks by the end of this parliament.
The Government has said the rollout of heat networks is an important part of its net zero drive because the systems often rely on waste heat to warm homes. This power can be drawn from excess heat produced by data centres and energy facilities that would have otherwise been wasted.
Shimeon Lee, of the TaxPayers’ Alliance, said: “Taxpayers will be baffled that £41m is backing a scheme to ship hot water down the Thames.
Because, see, they don’t actually have any pipes or…anything. The barges are temporary water-supply storage.
…The planned London Strategic Heat Main will carry hot water 16 miles from Belvedere into central London through pipes built into underground tunnels.
David Carter, of Cory Group, the waste management company behind the plans, said: “The barges are an immediately deliverable solution that then starts to set up the demand. We are having to build up an ecosystem because heat networks are so nascent in the UK.”
