Michelle Obama is joking about what the world might look like if men could become pregnant, even as persistent rumors about her marriage to Barack Obama continue to circulate.
The former first couple has faced claims for more than a year that they are living “separate lives” and could be heading for divorce.
The discussion unfolded during the latest episode of Michelle’s IMO podcast, where she interviewed Sharon Stone.
The 68 year old actress is known for her roles in Basic Instinct and Casino.

As the conversation turned to pregnancy, the two women speculated about how society would respond if men could experience it.
“If men got pregnant, you could get an abortion from a vending machine,” Stone said.
Michelle, 62, quickly agreed and suggested there would be birth Olympics if men could become pregnant.
The former First Lady also imagined men filming themselves during labor and receiving trophies for making it through the experience without an epidural.

The exchange followed Stone’s disclosure that she had an abortion as a teenager. Their pointed jokes arrive while Michelle’s other podcast remarks continue to attract attention.
Weeks earlier, Michelle said she does not miss having her daughters living at home. She and Barack, 64, are parents to Malia, 28, and Sasha, 25.
“I don’t miss ‘em,” Michelle confessed during a previous podcast episode at the end of August. “I don’t, I love them. I’m going to see them tonight for dinner.”

She contrasted her reaction to the daughters leaving home with Barack’s response. “I love them, but Barack cried when they went to college and I was like, ‘Bye…’” she continued.
Michelle said Friday nights were no longer consumed by fear and questions about where her daughters were. She also said she loves their emancipation and growth and has enjoyed being able to control her own schedule.
“I’ve had so much quality time with my children , so much, I know them inside and out,” she concluded. Her remarks added another provocative moment to a podcast that has repeatedly generated discussion about her family and marriage.
Michelle and Barack have been married since 1992, but divorce speculation has followed them for more than a year.
The rumors intensified in January of last year when Michelle skipped both Jimmy Carter’s funeral and Donald Trump’s inauguration, leaving Barack to attend both events alone.

Political commentator Meghan McCain addressed the speculation while appearing on reporter Tara Palmeri’s podcast in 2025. “I have been hearing this rumor that the Obamas are getting a divorce by reputable people,” McCain said.
McCain emphasized that her information was not coming from celebrity gossip outlets. She claimed that “very serious journalists” had told her they were hearing that the divorce rumors were true.

“We’ve heard that for a long time,” replied Palmeri, who has covered Washington politics. “Like I just heard that they live separate lives.”
Michelle launched IMO in March of last year and has frequently discussed Barack on the show. Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson has claimed that the former First Lady “really dislikes her husband, and it’s super obvious.”
“I’m not just saying that to be catty,” Carlson explained. “I think I’m trying to feel compassion for her but her hostility toward the guy is unbelievable.”
Megyn Kelly agreed with Carlson’s assessment and argued that “everything Michelle says about her husband is negative.” Kelly contrasted those remarks with how she talks about her own husband, Doug Brunt, saying she thinks first about what is positive and what she loves about him.
Barack appeared on Michelle’s podcast in July of last year, when the couple directly rejected the divorce speculation. Michelle insisted that she had never considered walking away from her husband, despite difficult periods in their marriage.

“There hasn’t been one moment in our marriage where I thought about quitting my man,” Michelle claimed.
“And we’ve had some really hard times. So we had a lot of fun times, a lot of adventures, and I have become a better person because of the man I’m married to.”

Barack said he often remained unaware of the rumors until someone else brought them to his attention.
Despite their public denial, speculation about the state of their marriage has continued alongside the attention generated by Michelle’s increasingly provocative podcast conversations.
