On March 29, country music star Morgan Wallen was invited to perform as a musical guest on “Saturday Night Live.” The “Whiskey Glasses” singer sang two songs from his upcoming album “I’m the Problem,” but at the end-of-show gathering onstage where the host, cast, and guests typically wave goodbye to the audience, Wallen quickly shook hands with host Mikey Madison and then walked offstage abruptly before the credits finished rolling.

Shortly after this brow-raising departure, Wallen took to social media and posted a picture of his plane with the caption “Get me to God’s country.”

“Apparently he did not enjoy his time in the Big Apple,” says Jill Savage of “Blaze News Tonight.”

“SNL” certainly felt snubbed. The show roasted Wallen twice in the next episode for both his exit and his post. But the show really should be thanking him for bringing some much-needed humor back to the program.

Jill wonders what it would actually take to make SNL funny again. Last week, she posted the following on X:

Here were some of the best responses:

“Imagine if you just lived in a free world; that’s what this segment makes me realize,” says Blaze News editor in chief and “Blaze News Tonight” co-host Matthew Peterson.

“I mean of course they should just have people who are actually funny represent the entire spectrum on there. … They’d be more successful, but I don’t think that ‘Saturday Night Live’ actually exists in order to do comedy,” he tells Jill.

But if “SNL” stays on its current course, there’s plenty of humor elsewhere. Take Yale professor Jason Stanley, who just stormed off to Canada to protect his family from fascist Donald Trump. His recent segment on MSNBC is funnier than anything SNL has produced in years.
