Everytown Tries To Turn D-Day Anniversary Into Gun Control Holiday?

There’s a lot to dislike about groups like Everytown. I mean, they’re trying to trample on our rights, and at no point are they likely to stop and think, “We’ve done enough.” They’re never going to stop, even when the right to keep and bear arms is practically non-existent.

So yeah, I dislike them.

However, I came across a post on X that suggests there’s a whole lot more to dislike.

🚨BREAKING — The gun-grabbing extremists at Everytown have declared June 6th as “National Gun Violence Awareness Day.” ⁰⁰These radical Democrats are shamelessly co-opting D-Day to push their radical anti-gun agenda.⁰⁰On June 6, 1944, countless brave Americans stormed the… pic.twitter.com/6i87R1HlDw

Post continues:

On June 6, 1944, countless brave Americans stormed the beaches of Normandy, giving their lives to secure the very freedoms we hold dear, including our Second Amendment rights. For Everytown to exploit this hallowed day to push their anti-gun agenda and strip law-abiding Americans of their constitutional protections is beyond shameful—it’s a disgraceful attack on our heritage and an insult to every hero who fought for our liberty.

If the gun-grabbers are going to make up fake holidays to push their propaganda, then I say two can play that game…

That’s why I’m declaring June 6th as National Gun Owners Day—a day to publicly proclaim that we will NEVER let the globalist gun control lobby strip away our God-given Second Amendment rights.

Will you join me in celebrating National Gun Owners Day and sending a clear message to the gun-grabbers?

Let me be clear: I don’t bend the knee to the anti-gun lobbyists, and I never will.  My loyalty is to you, the hardworking, law-abiding citizens of this great state, and to the Constitution that guarantees our right to keep and bear arms.

Everytown and their globalist allies can try all they want to smear our values, but I’ll never bend the knee to their agenda.  They don’t get to rewrite history or our rights—and they certainly don’t get to dictate what days we honor.

Let’s make National Gun Owners Day a powerful stand for liberty on June 6th!

I get why Roberts was upset. I’d be upset too.

However, let’s be very clear about a couple of things. First, National Gun Violence Awareness Day is actually June 7th, not June 6th. If Roberts is trying to co-opt the day, he missed the mark.

Now, that’s not to say Roberts is entirely wrong.

Everytown wants people to wear orange–the color they’ve chosen to represent their gun control ambitions–on June 6-8, which does hit the timeframe of the storming of Normandy. So while it’s not the day itself, there’s still a bit of co-opting going on.

But this isn’t new. They’ve been doing this for years. The overlap might be new, but the idea isn’t.

I’ll point out, though, that it’s also largely accomplished nothing.

I guess I should also say that this isn’t an overly new concept. I proposed a Gun Pride Month a few years back. I managed to not just anger LGBT gun owners because I sort of compared the idea to Gay Pride, but even a lot of gun people figured I was a fed trying to find out who all had guns and who didn’t.

Like the ATF didn’t already know.

Anyway, I don’t see this as a terrible thing, even if it doesn’t override the anti-gun “holiday.” I still like the idea of Gun Pride Month, myself, but since there wasn’t a sterling reception of my idea, I’m willing to try something else.

Let’s just not think that the anti-gun “holiday” is going anywhere.

Or that it will do anything.
