Gun Rights Policy Conference Announces Speakers

The Second Amendment Foundation’s Gun Rights Policy Conference is one of several different opportunities for gun rights advocates to get together and discuss the way forward in defending and restoring our right to keep and bear arms. While I haven’t had the opportunity to attend, I know plenty of others who have, and they universally report it as a great experience.

And it’s coming up this September.

With just a few months until the big event, some of the speakers have been announced via a press release sent on Wednesday:

Registration for the 40th annual Gun Rights Policy Conference (GRPC) is open, and the planning committee is pleased to announce the first list of confirmed speakers. 

Co-hosted by the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) and the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA), this year’s event is scheduled for Sept. 26 – 28 in Salt Lake City, Utah, at the Salt Lake Marriott Downtown at City Creek. Confirmed speakers to date include:

• Sara Weaver, author and Ruby Ridge siege survivor

• Massad Ayoob, author, Handgun Editor for GUNS Magazine and Second Amendment Foundation President

• Jared Yanis, host, Guns & Gadgets YouTube Channel

• Austin Knudsen, Montana Attorney General

• Kenyon Gleason, President, National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers

• AWR Hawkins, award-winning Second Amendment columnist for Breitbart News

• Andrew Bailey, Missouri Attorney General

• Ava Flannel, host of the Ava Flannel Show and founder of Elite Firearms & Training

• Adam Kraut, SAF Executive Director 

• Alan Gottlieb, SAF founder and Executive Vice President and CCRKBA Chairman

The theme for this year’s event is “Advocacy Through Action” and embodies the urgency and momentum we share to defend, secure and restore our Second Amendment rights. The two-day event will feature speakers from some of the nation’s most influential 2A advocates. 

Mark your calendars for Sept. 26 – 28 – you won’t want to miss the opportunity to learn from the nation’s top 2A scholars and influencers about what the future holds for the 2A movement.

This is an intriguing group of speakers, and there should be more names announced before GRPC kicks off. Yet even that list has some fascinating names. Massad Ayoob, of course, is the venerable voice of the firearms community, and my buddy Jared Yanis is always great to talk to, but Sara Weaver might be the most intriguing name on that list, at least for yours truly.

Now it makes me wonder about who all else will be speaking, as I’m sure some will be added between then and now.

The theme for the year is of the utmost importance, too. We cannot just hold the line anymore. Every law’s time on the books is being used to justify its existence, meaning it becomes more and more difficult to remove them with each passing year. Advocacy through action isn’t just a theme, but a necessity.

It sounds like this is the kind of thing anyone who can make it to should make it to. Those who do, though, need to share what they learn with those who can’t.

Our rights may depend on it.
