We have a right to keep and bear arms. This is an individual right, as the Supreme Court has ruled multiple times. The Second Amendment says it “shall not be infringed,” which is largely ignored, but is still the law.

The Bruen decision was prompted by New York’s continued insistence on pretending the Second Amendment doesn’t actually exist. Following that decision, they passed a law that tried to meet the letter of the parameters handed down by the Court, but most definitely not the spirit.

And those laws have been challenged.

Now, following another incredibly idiotic ruling from the Second Circuit last week, Gov. Kathy Hochul seems to think that brand of vile is needed throughout the nation.

Guns don’t belong on our subways or in Times Square.

These laws work in New York and they can work across the country.

Washington should take note. https://t.co/DKIAYU87yb

— Governor Kathy Hochul (@GovKathyHochul) September 23, 2025

Really? Those laws work?

So that’s why three people were shot in Times Square in August? Is that why a tourist was shot there last February?

Keep in mind that any shooting there is likely to be rare because it’s a major tourist attraction in a city that is very much a 24-hour place. There’s generally a large crowd, which means there are witnesses. And yet, I can pinpoint two in the last year and a half, pretty much.

And that’s without getting into the failure of the state’s assault weapon ban to stop the Manhattan shooting.

As for the subways, I guess those laws worked so well, and that’s why Hochul had to send in the National Guard? Let’s be real here, no one activates the National Guard when things are going swimmingly and there’s no need for extra law enforcement. They were brought in because the subways were so damn violent.

These laws don’t work in New York, yet Hochul thinks we should just ship them out across the country?

I swear, this is beyond stupid.

Most places don’t have subways, for one thing, but if she means public transit, let’s keep in mind just how well a gun ban worked on Charlotte, North Carolina’s bus service. Iryna Zarutska would have benefited from someone having a gun on that bus, because the knife restrictions didn’t do her a damn bit of good.

Let’s also remember that this is the same place that prosecuted Daniel Penny for trying to stop a deranged, dangerous individual making threats on the subway. He had no firearm, which might have sent Jordan Neely elsewhere instead of continuing his aggression, so Penny stepped in. They tried to put him in prison for it, despite the environment that people like Hochul helped create on the New York subways.

And she has the gall to believe we should all engage in that kind of nonsense?

I knew she wasn’t very bright, but that takes cajones and a lack of brain cells to even remotely suggest considering New York’s track record.

Those who represent a problem don’t care about what laws you put in place. They never have and never will. If you can’t get that through your thick skull, then you have no business in public office.
