MAGA mandate in peril: Who can stop this judicial coup?

Judicial overreach is one of the toughest battles the Trump administration faces. Lower court judges, who in truth have zero constitutional right to make decisions that impact the entire nation, are doing just that — ordering federal funds to be unfrozen, planes carrying deportees to turn around, language to be put back on government websites.

And thus far, these district court judges have gotten away with it. This sets a dangerous precedent that will continue to thwart the MAGA mandate if something isn’t done.

Glenn Beck invited First Liberty Institute executive general counsel Hiram Sasser to “The Glenn Beck Program” to discuss what must be done to stop this judicial insurrection.

What we’re witnessing, Glenn says, is a “judicial coup against President Trump” that is “well-orchestrated, well-planned, and well-funded.”

“The nationwide injunction thing has really gotten out of control,” Sasser agrees.

“There’s only two institutions that can fix this problem … either the Supreme Court is going to have to put an end to it,” or “Congress is going to have to put an end to it,” he says.

Glenn agrees, adding, “It is not the district court’s place to stop an administrator from doing administrative work. It is the Supreme Court’s place.”

“What’s going on is that you have one judge issuing an injunction against the entire United States government that is embodied in the power of one man — the only person who’s elected by the entire nation. … Then you have this one district court judge not elected by anybody who’s telling that person what to do,” says Sasser, pointing out the absurdity.

He then recalls how the left whined incessantly about injunctions from conservative district court judges during former Democrat presidencies.

“The left is against injunctions until they’re for them; they’re against judicial independence until they need it,” he scoffs.

This hypocrisy becomes even clearer when you consider that the left “never talks about [judicial independence] for the Supreme Court.”

“They don’t mind the protesters outside Justice Kavanaugh’s house with his daughters looking out the window to see people chanting death to their dad, right? The left doesn’t care about the attacks of the Supreme Court because they don’t feel like they own that court anymore,” says Sasser.

But 20 years ago, “All they ever talked about was defending the judiciary,” he adds. “It’s not about principle for the left; it’s just about power.”

Thankfully, Congress is actively debating solutions to address this rampant issue of nationwide injunctions issued by district courts. Hopefully, leaders can reach a solution soon and put a stop to this judicial coup. If they don’t, the lawfare will undoubtedly slow and hinder the Trump agenda the country voted for.
