Federa authorities say a man was “neutralized” after opening fire at a Border Patrol facility in McAllen, Texas on Monday morning, injuring three Border Patrol employees.

The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Ryan Louis Mosqueda, was armed with a rifle and was wearing what authorities described as a “utility vest.”

Officials said Mosqueda had no known criminal record. He had a known address in Michigan and arrived in Texas with a Michigan tagged vehicle. He was reported missing from a Weslaco, Texas, address at 4 a.m. Monday morning, and the shooting took place a little after 6 a.m. local time.

It follows a shooting outside of an immigration detention center in Alvarado on Friday.

That shooting in Alvarado hasn’t received a lot of coverage in the media, especially considering it sounds like it was a coordinated act of domestic terrorism.

Just before 11 p.m., the Alvarado Police Department said it was called to the 1200 block of Sunflower Lane, outside the ICE Prairieland Detention Facility, on a report of a suspicious person. When officers arrived, they saw a person who appeared to be carrying a firearm, according to a news release.

Alvarado police said that when one of the first responding officers tried to engage with the person, an unknown number of suspects opened fire. At least one bullet struck an officer in the neck, police said.

The injured officer was flown from the scene to a Fort Worth hospital, was treated and later released, Alvarado police said.

According to Alvarado police, several armed suspects were taken into custody after trying to flee the scene.

… A federal law enforcement source told CBS News Saturday that local police arrested eight people. The official said some of those apprehended were wearing body armor.

The source told CBS News that early reports indicate that more than a dozen masked individuals dressed in black arrived at the Prairieland ICE detention facility late Friday night and vandalized vehicles and security cameras in the parking lot.

The individuals launched fireworks in an apparent effort to lure law enforcement, the source said.

Today’s attack in McAllen comes as some Democratic members of Congress are claiming that their constituents are becoming increasingly unhinged and advocating for their blood to be spilled as part of their fight against the Trump administration. As I wrote this morning, shortly before the attack in McAllen took place (and before I was aware of the shooting in Alvarado, Texas), If there’s a vocal contingent of Democrat voters who are demanding lawmakers allow themselves to become victims of violence, how many of them are also advocating for committing acts of violence?

The gun control crowd, which usually can’t wait to comment on high-profile shootings long before the most basic facts are known, have been awfully quiet about both Friday’s shooting in Alvarado and today’s shooting in McAllen. Maybe it’s because these events don’t fit their narrative?

TEAM 2A: More proof that “gun free zone” signs are not the solution to stopping psychos seeking to kill. Only “good guys with guns” stop bad guns with guns. And remember: “sensitive places” can only exist IF the government provides comprehensive security like here.

Mosqueda chose to assault a “sensitive place” that’s actually sensitive, with multiple layers of security and a host of armed personnel on site. Compare that to some of the places anti-gunners have labeled “sensitive”; open parks and playgrounds with no fixed entrances or on-site security, public transportation that has no metal detectors or armed guards, and even busy public spaces like Times Square, where tens of thousands of pedestrians pass through each and every day.

These “gun-free zones” are worthless when it comes to public safety. Someone with evil intentions isn’t going to be thwarted by a sign telling them they can’t carry a gun in that location. It just provides them with a target-rich environment to carry out their attack.

Thankfully Mosqueda’s assault on the Border Patrol facility was met with immediate and lethal force, putting an end to the shooting before he could do more damage. This attack, and the attack on the ICE facility in Alvarado last Friday, aren’t just signs that more on the Left are willing to engage in domestic terrorism. They’re chilling reminders that bad guys with guns are stopped by good guys with guns, and more good guys need to be lawfully carrying in defense of themselves and others whenever possible.
