The attack at a Michigan synagogue hasn’t gotten quite the same attention as the attack at Old Dominion University at the bar in Austin, Texas. Part of that is because the only person who died in Michigan was the turd stain terrorist.

It’s easy to chalk all of these up as lone wolf attacks, except that the FBI seems to suggest otherwise in the case of Michigan.

Instead, they say he was directed by the notorious terrorist group Hezbollah.

The man who targeted the largest Jewish Reform synagogue in Michigan earlier this month was directed by Iranian-backed Lebanese terror group Hezbollah and had watched footage of an Iranian fatwa for “total jihad against the U.S. military” shortly before carrying out his attack, the FBI said on Monday.

Ayman Mohamad Ghazali, a 41-year-old Lebanese national, purposefully targeted the Jewish community when he drove his vehicle into Michigan’s largest synagogue and opened fire on March 12. The FBI said at a press conference on Monday that Ghazali was motivated and directed by Hezbollah’s “militant ideology,” which was confirmed by an investigation into his online activity.

Ghazali was killed after exchanging gunfire with security guards at the synagogue. The FBI said that Ghazali drove his through the doors of Temple Israel and 200 feet down the hallway before he appeared to set off fireworks that were inside his vehicle. A photo shared by the FBI at the press conference show the attacker’s vehicle come to stop just a few feet from a baby stroller. Temple Israel houses a daycare and dozens of small children were present when Ghazali carried out his attack.

One of the security guards was injured after he was struck by Ghazli’s vehicle, but no one else was harmed in the attack.

The reason no one was harmed was that, unlike in Norfolk or Austin, there were people with guns right there to deal with the threat. He plowed his car into the synagogue and got popped for his trouble.

While many people think the appropriate response to these attacks is more gun control, the Michigan outcome is evidence to the contrary.

Law enforcement can’t be everywhere. On top of worrying about terrorist attacks in their community, they also have more pedestrian forms of crime they’re expected to address. Even if they could be at every potential target in a city, they’d never be able to do anything else if they tried. Since there’s usually not a lot of evidence of this kind of thing beforehand, they’re going to be caught flat-footed much of the time.

That’s where armed citizens come in.

No, we’re not all sitting around here waiting to fight terrorists on the streets of our community. Well, some of us probably are, but most of us are really hoping it’s never a thing we have to deal with. However, if they come to my church or grocery store or wherever else I might be, I’d prefer to have a gun available to protect myself and my family. By extension, I’ll be protecting others, obviously, and protecting my nation since terrorists are a national enemy, but it really boils down to the fact that it’s better for some good guy to have a gun right there than to hope the police can swoop in and stop the attack.

Oh, I know the ROTC cadets stopped one without guns, but I’m not in my 20s anymore, and I’m damn sure not in military shape. I’m also pretty sure they’d have rather had guns to deal with the threat.

That’s how you make America untenable for terrorism. You shoot them before they can accomplish anything.

They don’t mind dying, and I get that, but if they can’t take anyone with them, they’ll get the hint eventually.
