Minnesota isn’t the most gun-friendly state in the nation. It’s not totally anti-gun, either, but it’s not a state known for being passionate about the Second Amendment, either.

Look at Tim Walz. He’s the governor there and yet he’s supported gun control since the moment he decided to run for statewide office. Conveniently, I might add, since he was somewhat more pro-gun when he was in Congress.

The assassination of a state representative and the attempted assassination of a state senator rocked the state and the nation, yet it wasn’t the only violent crime in the state. Two other high-profile shootings took place.

Now, anti-gunners are latching onto all of them to push their agenda.

Minnesotans in the Northland woke up to another tragedy Sunday after a shooting in downtown Duluth left one dead on the 100 block of East 3rd Street.

This comes two days after two were killed in domestic violence incident in Hermantown, and one day after the assassination and attempted assassination of Minnesota Rep. Melissa Hortman, Minnesota Sen. John Hoffman, and their spouses.

In the wake of this gun violence, Co-President of the Minnesota Chapter of Brady United Against Gun Violence, Joan Peterson, says the time to have a conversation about gun control is now.

“Why haven’t we done anything, and then they tell us, people who are working on this, ‘Oh now’s not the time to talk about this,’” said Peterson.

Yeah, like anti-gunners ever listen to the “now’s not the time to talk about this” thing.

Ever.

They start calling for gun control before the bodies are even cold. They always have and always will. Meanwhile, if we get political in the aftermath, we’re the problem.

Gun control doesn’t stop violence from happening. There are already too many guns on the black market for that to ever have been a hope, but between that, 3D printers, and the ability to modify non-firing replicas as many criminals in Europe do the odds of gun control ever working have been shattered beyond belief.

And it should also be noted that the odds are good that most of the shooters mentioned above didn’t get their guns lawfully in the first place.

The recent Hermantown shooting, and assassination of Rep. Melissa Hortman made the event all the more somber.

Peterson said the violence is taking it’s toll on all of us after Sunday morning’s Duluth shooting.

“This is not normal, we shouldn’t have to live like this,” said Peterson. “It’s jarring, it’s shocking, it’s really hard, I think we all have PTSD from all the shootings.”

Oh, shut the hell up. No one has PTSD from shootings they didn’t experience.

They’re more likely to have PTSD from the constant fear-mongering spoon-fed to them by people like Peterson and the media.

It only takes a toll because some people have made being a victim their entire personality, and that’s exhausting.

All of these incidents are awful tragedies, but let’s also remember that guns aren’t the only method for killing someone. Violent people are always going to have an advantage over non-violent people. Violence of action does a lot, so even if they just have their bare hands, they can still kill people.

It’s up to the law-abiding to have a way to even the odds. That means a tool that will, at worst, equalize things. At best, it gives them an advantage and allows them to fight back effectively.

Not being able to respond to such an attack is far more likely to give someone real PTSD than having a way to fight back ever would.

This is nothing more than the typical case of anti-gunners using the bodies of the slain as a soapbox from which they push their agenda.

I’m sick of playing nice with these people over it.
