Two married New Jersey cops were arrested late last month after being accused of having sex in front of children. What’s more, court documents indicate that some discovered images show the wife nude with children who also are unclothed, NJ.com reported.
The suspects reportedly have been released from jail.
‘These actions are not only abhorrent but have also shaken our community’s sense of security and trust in those who are sworn to protect us.’
New Jersey State Police arrested Brian DiBiasi, 39, and his wife, 42-year-old Elizabeth DiBiasi, on Jan. 29.
More from NJ.com:
Brian DiBiasi faces five charges including recording, possessing, and distributing the child sexual abuse material and endangering the welfare of a child. Elizabeth DiBiasi is charged with endangering the welfare of child by engaging in sexual conduct.
Elizabeth DiBiasi appeared nude in the images with children, who were at times nude as well, and the couple had sex in front of the children, authorities said in court documents filed in support of the charges.
After appearing in Burlington County Superior Court last week, the couple were released from Monmouth County Jail, according to NJ.com.
Blaze News on Thursday reached out to the office of state Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin and asked if the children in question are the couple’s children; officials there told Blaze News they “do not provide defendants’ identifying information when doing so could compromise the anonymity of the children victimized” and would neither confirm nor deny if the victims were their children.
Elizabeth DiBiasi’s attorney — Jerry Ballarotto — told NJ.com that both suspects have stipulations connected to their release, including restricted travel and not being able to see their children without approval from child protective services.
The state attorney general said authorities in New Jersey received a tip regarding child sex crimes from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children on Jan. 28.
‘Sexual offenses against children are among the most serious crimes we charge. It’s especially disturbing when, as in this case, the accused are members of law enforcement.’
A suspect had allegedly “uploaded and distributed unidentified, possibly newly produced or homemade content, specifically, image and video files of suspected child sexual exploitation/abuse material” to a mobile messaging platform, the state attorney general said.
“The user allegedly distributed multiple media files containing nude images of his wife in the presence of children. In the chat logs, the suspect allegedly mentioned children being present while he and his wife had sex. The cyber tip line reported a total of 36 files allegedly uploaded from an account belonging to the user,” according to the state attorney general.
The files appeared on the social media app Kik on an account that led to the couple’s home, authorities told NJ.com.
Police reportedly tracked the Kik account to the couple’s home in Hamilton Township. Law enforcement conducted an early-morning raid at their house on Jan. 29.
Citing officials, NJ.com reported that Brian DiBiasi admitted to investigators that he was the owner of the Kik account and confessed to distributing the files.
Elizabeth DiBiasi has served 18 years with the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office. She has been suspended without pay from her $134,000-a-year job, a police spokesperson told NJ.com.
Brian DiBiasi served 21 years with the Hamilton police with a salary of $136,000 a year.
Hamilton Mayor Jeff Martin stated in a press release, “These actions are not only abhorrent but have also shaken our community’s sense of security and trust in those who are sworn to protect us.”
State Attorney General Platkin said in a statement, “Sexual offenses against children are among the most serious crimes we charge. It’s especially disturbing when, as in this case, the accused are members of law enforcement.”
