Two Men Indicted Over Machine Gun Conversion Devices

The problem with gun control advocates isn’t that they want to curtail our rights. Not in and of itself, anyway. That’s a problem and I don’t really appreciate it, but there are always people who want to curtail rights for various reasons. The gun grabbers aren’t any different, really.

No, the problem with them is that they’re so absolutely clueless about the reality that surrounds what they want to do.

Of course, this applies to anyone who wants to curtail rights, but in this case, it’s especially stupid.

See, the curtailment of rights doesn’t stop crime. After all, machine guns have been heavily restricted for nearly a century at this point, and guess what two men were just indicted for in Kansas City?

Two Kansas City, Mo., area men have been indicted by a federal grand jury in separate cases for illegally possessing machine gun conversion devices.

Demetrius Harris has been charged with one count of illegally possessing and transferring machine guns. The charges specify that on Jan. 24, 2024, he allegedly possessed an Anderson Manufacturing AM-15 multi-caliber rifle equipped with an AR-type machine gun conversion device, as well as two additional AR-type machine gun conversion devices.

Darius Harris faces two counts of illegally possessing and transferring machine gun conversion devices. According to the indictment, he allegedly possessed and transferred Glock-type machine gun conversion devices on two occasions, Oct. 30, 2023, and Nov. 9, 2023.

So they had conversion devices for not just a Glock but an AR-type firearm.

Of course, both of those are highly illegal and aren’t lawfully sold anywhere in the country, so the typical claim that the reason people get these is because of other states’ lax gun laws doesn’t fly here.

These are illegal and, to be clear, were never legal to the best of my knowledge. You couldn’t get them lawfully and they’re not an option for law-abiding gun owners today.

But those who don’t care about the law aren’t exactly bothering to follow those laws, now are they?

Gun control laws don’t stop people like this. It means that people like this can outgun us at every turn. It means that we’re put at a disadvantage because of the actions of criminals, but then the criminals aren’t even impacted.

That’s what gun control does. It’s what it’s always done. The National Firearms Act didn’t disarm the mob, even though mob violence is what spurred its passage. The Gun Control Act didn’t stop violent crime, despite it passing in part to combat it. In fact, violent crime rose after its passage. The only reason we don’t see the same after the NFA’s passage was the repeal of Prohibition caused a significant drop.

You cannot disarm the law-abiding and then expect the criminals to follow. It doesn’t work like that. It’s never worked like that.

But then again, most gun control advocates are so wrapped up in their cocoon of self-righteousness that they don’t bother to look at what’s actually happening with any degree of critical thinking. That might shatter their entire worldview, you see, and they don’t want that.

I, however, do it all the time and I see stuff like this.
