UK Mass Stabbing Takes Place as Manchester Synagogue

The United Kingdom is very proud of having a lot of gun control laws on the books. Folks there love to mock our mass shootings, and not entirely without reason. While they still have them, they don’t have anything close to the number we do.

However, that’s not to say they don’t have other issues, which we were unfortunately reminded of earlier today.

It seems some whackjob crashed his car into a synagogue and started stabbing people.

At least four people have been injured after a car ramming and stabbing attack outside a synagogue in Manchester, northern England, on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.

Police said they were called to an incident in Crumpsall, north of the city, where a car was driven at members of the public and a man was stabbed. The suspect was shot by firearms officers.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said he was “appalled” by Thursday’s attack, and thanked emergency services for their response.

“The fact that this has taken place on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, makes it all the more horrific,” he said in a post on X. “My thoughts are with the loved ones of all those affected.”

Now, there’s still an awful lot that we don’t know right now, including the identity of the attacker and his potential motive.

However, let’s keep in mind that there’s been a strong anti-Jewish sentiment in much of the Western world since the October 7th attacks and the subsequent response by Israel. Some people seem to think that killing innocent people in Israel is a terrible excuse to engage a genocidal regime and create collateral damage.

I’m unmoved by their arguments, but some people are stupid.

So, it wouldn’t be surprising to learn this was, in fact, anti-semitism because, well, look at it.

I can’t help but notice the similarities to the attack at an LDS church in Michigan this past weekend. Whether that’s a coincidence or not will have to be determined later on, though it’s not exactly an unheard-of tactic. The massacre at Luby’s in Killean, TX was another example, after all.

What I will say, though, is that because of the British laws, no one was in any position to defend themselves at that synagogue. There were no private armed guards, volunteer or paid. There were no private citizens carrying a firearm. It doesn’t even look like anyone there had a knife of their own they could use to protect themselves.

The UK has worked hard to cultivate an unarmed and vulnerable population, even as they have its own problems with illegal immigration, including an awful lot of violent people who have a religious grudge with Jewish people.

I suspect that we’re going to see a lot more of this, and probably worse, and while some might argue that the fact that the bad guy didn’t have a gun is proof that gun laws work, let’s keep in mind that gun laws keep both sides unarmed, but those who wish violence clearly still find a way. That’s what we see here and what I will do everything in my power to prevent here in the United States.
