Well…That Didn’t Take Long. New Glock Model Already Outfitted with Full-Auto Switch

Glock discontinued all of its current models and rolled out the Model V. This was supposed to be a design that was more difficult to outfit with an aftermarket full-auto switch.

The move came as pressure mounted on the Austria-based company to change its designs because of this.

They resisted for a bit, got some lawsuits thrown their way, saw their products banned in some states, and finally bent the knee.

Sure, it’s just a matter of time before someone figures it out, but the new model is so new and so modified that I’m sure it’ll take months, if not years for someone to do…what was that?

Now, that’s a Reddit post, which means it’s far from the most trustworthy source on the internet, but there is at least one more picture, and the switch sure looks fully functional. The poster claims to have the necessary permits in order to do this lawfully, though I suspect anyone who did this would claim as much if they’re posting it for the world to see.

Regardless, it sure looks legit to me. That’s far from the end-all, be-all of verification by any stretch of the imagination, but it is what it is.

And what it is just happens to be evidence of exactly what happens anytime someone decides to tell the gun community they can’t do something. They damn well find a way to do it and screw whatever it is you’re trying to push.

They made Glock bend the knee, but that doesn’t mean the gun nerds out there did.

I’ll admit, though, that in this day of AI getting better and better, I can’t say it’s real in any definitive way. Video would help, since AI video still tends not to look quite right most of the time, though it’s getting better, too.

Or, we can just accept that if this isn’t legit, it’s a harbinger of things to come, as people can and will try it, and, honestly, it doesn’t look all that hard from what I can see. Some have claimed the above required no modification, but I didn’t see that on the Reddit thread. Admittedly, I didn’t read everything because it’s Reddit. I’ve seen too much stupid there over the years to wade in any further than I have to.

The fact is that unless Glock cranks out a completely different handgun design, someone is going to figure out pretty quickly how to put a switch on it, and possibly for no other reason than people don’t want us knowing we can.

As the man in the movie said, you can’t stop the signal. The idea of full-auto switches on guns like these is out there, and you’re never pulling it back. All you can really do is take the reins off law-abiding folks and let us meet the threats we might face on equal footing. The bad guys aren’t restricted from doing naughty things, which is why everyone was going after Glock in the first place. They needed to blame someone and it wasn’t going to be their own anti-gun side, so Glock was handy.

But it won’t work, as this makes pretty damn clear.

Real or not, it’s a signal.

While you can’t stop the signal, the powers that be can and probably will ignore the hell out of it.
