From the moment he helped pass the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, I wanted to see Sen. John Cornyn gone. Honestly, if we’re going to see a Texas senator support anti-Second Amendment legislation like that, we might as well not see him counted on the ostensibly pro-gun side.

He needed to be primaried, though, and hopefully lose his spot on the ticket, and a real Republican could win the seat.

Rep. Wesley Hunt is one of those trying to take that seat from Cornyn, and a new ad from his campaign isn’t pulling any punches.

Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-TX), who is seeking to unseat incumbent Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) in the Republican primary, is launching a new satirical ad highlighting Cornyn’s record of partnering with Democrats on gun control and immigration legislation — arguing that if the senator “votes like a Democrat” and “acts like a Democrat,” then “he must be a Democrat.”

The video, shared first with Breitbart News ahead of its Thursday evening release, will run across digital platforms and television as the high-stakes Texas Senate primary enters its final stretch.

The spot opens with Hunt standing in a field beside a fence, two donkeys positioned behind him — a visual jab meant to underscore his claim that Cornyn has aligned himself with Democrats to pass legislation opposed by many Republicans.

“I’m Wesley Hunt, and this is who John Cornyn partnered with for gun control, amnesty, and allowed 50,000 Afghan migrants into this country,” Hunt says, gesturing toward the animals.

It’s just a 15-second spot, and it really is just what’s said above, but it’s harsh and, frankly, accurate.

Look, I honestly don’t have an opinion on who should win other than “Not John Cornyn.” He might not really be a Democrat in Republican clothing, but to say he’s a staunch supporter of the right to keep and bear arms is akin to saying that David Hogg is the epitome of manhood.

Without laughing, I mean.

Anyway, this is a first blast that, in a brief period of time, lays out the case pretty well, at least on guns.

Cornyn betrayed Texas and gun rights advocates by spearheading the effort to override the veto on BSCA. That doesn’t become law without him, specifically and explicitly. Democrats were trying to get it, but they didn’t have the votes for cloture. Cornyn, though, worked diligently to make that happen. He made it something of a personal crusade, working with the Biden administration to curtail our right to keep and bear arms.

Calling him out on that is perfectly reasonable.

Is Hunt the guy to replace Cornyn? I neither know nor particularly care. I simply know that the man needs to be gone and either be replaced by someone we can count on, or someone who we don’t have to wonder if they hate us this week.

And this is Texas, so I don’t see Jasmine Crockett taking the seat, no matter how much she’s read her own press.

Especially with her fake ghetto accent, trying to hide her privileged background from the people of the state she thinks she should represent.

Editor’s Note: The radical left will stop at nothing to enact their radical gun control agenda and strip us of our Second Amendment rights.
