It’s been 10 days since a group of extremists attacked an ICE detention facility. It was just the latest escalation in political tensions regarding illegal immigration.
It was a bloody enough attack, even if it didn’t go the way the attackers wanted.
But, in the week and a half since that attack, something interesting has happened. Or, more specifically, hasn’t happened.
Over at Newsmax, Michael Dorstewitz brings up a valid and interesting point.
A tragic July 4th mass shooting in Columbus, Ohio, which left a 17-year-old dead and several others injured, sparked calls by Democratic state lawmakers to enact more gun control legislation.
“I am so deeply troubled by these recent events, particularly the senseless and heartbreaking murder of 17-year-old Cameron Moore,” State Sen. Hearcel Craig said, emphasizing the need for action other than “thoughts and prayers.”
This has become so common that it’s turned into an American ritual. Each shooting is followed by demands for stricter, “common sense” gun laws — until recently. Nowadays it all depends.
Another shooting occurred over the same July 4th holiday, where a large group of heavily-armed Antifa members opened fire on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Alvarado, Texas.

But no. Conservative pundit and bestselling author Joe Concha noticed the silence, and said “Democrats not calling for gun control after this ambush for whatever reason . . . “
Others also noticed, including Mediaite, which reported that the two most leftist news networks, CNN and MSNBC, didn’t mention the armed assault on ICE agents at all.
That’s right, they didn’t. They said nothing at all about gun control, and it’s really not the first time.
After Luigi Mangione allegedly assassinated UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson with a homemade gun equipped with a homemade suppressor, the crickets were rather loud.
Sure, the odd commentator tried to bring it up, but there was no traction there. The howling masses that normally scream bloody murder over every high-profile shooting said nothing at all. Why? They didn’t like Thompson and what he stood for. Instead, a lot of them are fawning over Mangione.
With the attack on an ICE facility, it’s the same song, different verse. They despise ICE. They support illegal immigrants. So, some launch an attack, and rather than scream about gun control, they say next to nothing.
Now, I’m fine with silence. I’m not fine with hypocrisy.
You can’t pretend guns are a problem except when people you don’t like get shot at and/or killed. You can’t do that and just escape unnoticed. You don’t get to make your entire life, your entire identity, about restricting guns because bad people do bad things with them, then just pretend that bad people didn’t do bad things when they did them to people you hate. When they’re on your side, they’re still bad people.
I had no problem calling out the Minnesota assassin for being a vile piece of filth. I had no trouble denouncing his actions, even if he appears to be on my side of the political divide. Why? Because killing people you disagree with his wrong. I also maintained my stance on the right to keep and bear arms.
Anti-gunners don’t get to pretend they have any moral high ground when they say absolutely nothing about vicious, violent attacks by people who are on their side politically. Remember this the next time they try it.
