Women for Gun RIghts Announces New Advisory Council

The Women for Gun Rights is one of those entities that matters a great deal in the fight for our right to keep and bear arms, if for no other reason than because they shatter the idea that guns are about old, white guys who just don’t like anyone who isn’t an old, white guy. That’s always been mostly nonsense, but it’s always nice to have groups that prove it’s nonsense.

And that’s part of what Women for Gun Rights does, even if they did nothing else.

But they do plenty, and I’m glad to see it.

It also seems they’ve kicked off a new advisory council.

Tulsa, Oklahoma – Today Women for Gun Rights (WGR) announced the formation of its new Advisory Council, marking a significant milestone as the organization celebrates its 10th anniversary. The council brings together respected leaders, veterans, educators, past policymakers, and cultural influencers whose experience and public trust will help advance WGR’s mission to safeguard the Second Amendment through education, advocacy, and responsible firearm ownership.

“We are honored to welcome an extraordinary group of advisors who bring credibility, leadership, and influence from diverse backgrounds,” said Dianna Muller, Founder of Women for Gun Rights. “Each of these individuals understands that the Second Amendment is not just a political issue; it is a fundamental human right tied to personal safety, responsibility, and freedom. Their experience will help us reach new audiences and strengthen our impact nationwide.”

While Women for Gun Rights is a women focused organization, its mission has always been grounded in the belief that self-defense and civil liberties are shared responsibilities that extend beyond gender. Men (husbands, fathers, and sons) play an essential role in supporting the safety and freedom of the women in their lives and in strengthening families and communities as a whole. By incorporating the perspectives of men, who support and stand with women, the Advisory Council expands WGR’s capacity to influence policy, educate the public, and advance constitutional freedoms.

The members of this council are noted outdoorswoman Eva Shockey, Benghazi veteran Mark “Oz” Geist, model and competitive shooter Jamie Villamor, and Nick Frietas, who is a former special forces soldier, former Virginia delegate, and maker of some of my favorite videos on the internet.

That’s not too shabby of a lineup. Villamor is the only one with whom I wasn’t somewhat familiar before this, and that was purely by name. I’ve seen some of her covers, which is kind of cool. I didn’t know she shot, though, especially on a competitive level.

Regardless, the hope is that this new committee will help advance the mission, and they’ve picked some fairly solid people to start with. They might not be the biggest names out there in gun rights, but most of them are big enough names to show they know what they’re talking about, and a big name doesn’t mean much unless it’s someone who has put in the work as well.

I genuinely look forward to seeing what the advisory committee does and how it helps the organization move forward in advancing gun rights, both for women and for the rest of us.

Editor’s Note: President Trump and Republicans across the country are doing everything they can to protect our Second Amendment rights and right to self-defense.
