More than half of House Democrats voted against a GOP-backed resolution condemning the terrorist attack in Boulder, Colorado, and expressing support for the work of federal immigration authorities to detain criminal illegal migrants.
The House of Representatives voted 280 to 113 to pass the resolution condemning antisemitism, which was offered by freshman Republican Colorado Rep. Gabe Evans. Seventy-five House Democrats joined their GOP colleagues in approving the resolution while six lawmakers voted “present,” including Republican Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, the lone GOP lawmaker to cast a vote other than “yea.” (RELATED: Jordan Launches Investigation Into Mohammed Sabry Soliman And His Family)
House Republicans’ campaign arm, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), excoriated the majority of House Democrats for opposing the resolution.
“House Democrats just sided with terrorists over cops and couldn’t even bring themselves to condemn antisemitism,” NRCC spokesperson Mike Marinella said in a statement. “They’re officially the antisemite and anti-cop caucus.”
House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries blasted Evans and House Republicans for offering a resolution tying a condemnation of antisemitism and support for law enforcement, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), in preventing antisemitic terrorist attacks. The resolution notably voices appreciation for ICE personnel for “protecting the homeland” and urges the Trump administration to aggressively vet foreign nationals who apply for visas.
The Colorado Terrorist attack suspect, Mohamed Soliman, notably overstayed a visa that expired in February 2023 and was in the United States illegally when he allegedly committed the attack.

“Who is this guy?” Jeffries sarcastically asked reporters, referring to Evans, during a press conference Monday. “He’s not seriously concerned with combating antisemitism in America.”
“This guy’s going to be a one term member of Congress,” Jeffries continued. “He’s a complete and total embarrassment … Gabe Evans is a joke, and he’s on his way out [of Congress] — he’s done.”
House Majority Leader Steve Scalise hit back at Jeffries and voiced his gratitude for Evans, a former law enforcement officer and Iraq War veteran, for sponsoring the resolution.
“Only radical Democrats would call it a joke to denounce antisemitic terrorism and express gratitude to law enforcement for detaining the terrorist here illegally who perpetrated the Boulder attack,” House Majority Leader Steve Scalise wrote on X Monday afternoon.
House Majority Whip Tom Emmer argued Democratic lawmakers’ failure to secure the border under former President Joe Biden contributed in part to the terrorist attack allegedly committed by Soliman.
The House also voted on a similar resolution Monday evening omitting discussion of immigration while condemning antisemitism and violence perpetrated against Jewish individuals, which no lawmakers opposed.
