49ers Player Undergoes Surgery After Early-Morning Shooting in San Fran [WATCH]

San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Keion White underwent surgery Monday after being shot in the ankle during an early-morning incident in San Francisco, according to the team and local law enforcement, as reported by ESPN.

The San Francisco Police Department said officers responded to a reported shooting at a business in the 1700 block of Mission Street at approximately 4:06 a.m. local time on Monday.

Upon arrival, officers located a victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Police provided medical aid at the scene before paramedics transported the victim to a hospital, where he was treated for injuries described as non-life-threatening.

In a statement, the San Francisco Police Department said, “A preliminary investigation revealed a verbal altercation occurred between two groups inside a business. The victim was injured when shots were fired by an unknown suspect.”

Authorities confirmed that no arrests have been made and that the case remains an open and active investigation being handled by the department’s Strategic Investigation Unit.

Later Monday afternoon, the San Francisco 49ers confirmed that White had undergone successful surgery to address the gunshot wound to his ankle.

The team said his injuries are not considered career-threatening and added that it “will provide further updates when appropriate.”

White, 26, had been in the Bay Area over the weekend and shared photos and videos on his Instagram account showing him attending Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara on Sunday.

White watched the game as a spectator as his former team, the New England Patriots, lost to the Seattle Seahawks.

The 49ers acquired White in a trade with the Patriots on Oct. 29, sending a 2026 sixth-round draft pick to New England in exchange for White and a 2026 seventh-round pick.

Following the trade, White appeared in 11 games for San Francisco, including postseason play, and made two starts.

During his time with the 49ers, White recorded 16 tackles, 2.5 sacks, a fumble recovery, and three tackles for loss while playing both defensive end and defensive tackle.

White is the second 49ers player to be shot in San Francisco within the past 18 months. On Aug. 31, 2024, wide receiver Ricky Pearsall was shot through the chest during an attempted robbery.

Pearsall survived the incident, and a teenager was later charged in juvenile court in connection with the shooting.

Pearsall missed the first six games of his rookie season due to the injury, but ultimately made a full recovery. He returned to the field later that year and appeared in 11 games during the season.

The latest shooting has renewed attention on public safety concerns in San Francisco, particularly following multiple high-profile incidents involving professional athletes.

Police have not released details about any suspects in White’s case and have urged anyone with information related to the incident to contact authorities.

As of Monday evening, White remained under medical care, and the team has not provided a timetable for his recovery or return to football activities.
