A tragic massacre unfolded in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) last week when dozens of Christians were brutally beheaded inside a Protestant church in Kasanga after being kidnapped by Islamist militants.
The attack was carried out by the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a violent extremist group reportedly linked to the Islamic State (ISIS).
According to reports, ADF militants entered the homes of Christians in the area, ordering them to “get out and don’t make any noise.”

Around 20 people were taken captive in the initial attack.
However, when members of the community gathered in an attempt to rescue the hostages, they too were captured, bringing the total number of kidnapped individuals to 70.
The militants then forced all 70 captives into a Protestant church in Kasanga, where they were brutally executed.
Local sources indicate that some families were unable to bury their dead because of ongoing security threats in the area.

Many Christians have now fled in fear for their safety, as violence in the region continues to escalate.
Muhindo Musunzi, director of Kombo Primary School, which belongs to the CECA20 church, described the growing instability in the region.
“We had to move all activities towards Vunying,” Musunzi said, explaining that churches, schools, and health centers had been forced to shut down due to worsening security conditions.
A church elder from CECA20 expressed the despair felt by many Christians in the region.
“We don’t know what to do or how to pray; we’ve had enough of massacres,” the elder said. “May God’s will alone be done.”
The ADF has been waging a campaign of terror in northeastern DRC for years.

Originally formed in Uganda, the group has carried out frequent attacks in Beni territory, North Kivu province since 2014, with its operations expanding to the territories of Irumu and Mambasa in Ituri province and now reaching Lubero.
Just in the past month, over 200 people have been killed by ADF militants in the Baswagha chiefdom, according to local reports.
John Samuel, Open Doors’ legal expert for sub-Saharan Africa, condemned the attack and called for urgent international action.
“Open Doors strongly condemns this heinous act of violence against civilians and calls upon civil societies, governments, and international organizations to prioritize civilian protection in eastern DRC, where armed groups, such as the ADF, are operating,” Samuel stated.
He further highlighted the lack of accountability for such atrocities, warning of the dire consequences of unchecked violence.
“The violence takes place in a context of impunity, where almost no one is held accountable,” Samuel added.
“This massacre is a clear indicator of widespread human rights violations against civilians and vulnerable communities, often targeting Christians, perpetrated by ADF – a [so-called Islamic State] affiliate.”
The massacre in Kasanga underscores the rising threat facing Christian communities in the DRC, where Islamist militants continue to target civilians with little resistance from the government.
The lack of security and international attention has left these communities vulnerable to repeated attacks.
As ADF violence spreads, calls for action grow louder, with advocacy groups urging governments and international organizations to intervene and protect Christians and other civilians in the region.
The massacre serves as yet another grim reminder of the persecution faced by Christians in many parts of the world.
Not a single MSM outlet has touched the news that 70 Christians were tied up by Islamists & beheaded in Congo
