The raging Los Angeles wildfires have tragically claimed the life of another Hollywood figure.

Dalyce Curry, a 95-year-old actress known for her roles in classics like The Blues Brothers, Lady Sings the Blues, and The Ten Commandments, was found deceased in her fire-ravaged home in Altadena, as reported by TMZ.

According to the L.A. County coroner’s office, Curry’s remains were discovered over the weekend.

Her granddaughter confirmed the heartbreaking news on Facebook, sharing that she had dropped Dalyce off at her Altadena home last Tuesday, the very day wildfires began engulfing parts of Los Angeles. That was the last time the family saw Curry alive.

Reports indicate the Eaton Fire erupted after 6 PM that same evening, rapidly consuming large portions of Altadena. The granddaughter attempted to return to check on Curry the following day but was stopped by law enforcement at a barricade.

An officer informed her that the property had been destroyed and advised her to search for displaced residents at a local civic center. Unfortunately, Curry was not among the survivors.

By Friday, Curry’s family was able to survey the devastation at her home. It wasn’t until Sunday, however, that the coroner’s office provided the somber confirmation of Curry’s death.

Curry’s legacy in Hollywood was marked by her roles as an extra in several iconic films. While she may not have been a household name, her work contributed to some of the most beloved movies of the 20th century.

This tragic loss comes as the L.A. wildfires continue to wreak havoc across the region, claiming the lives of at least 24 people. Among the victims is former child actor Rory Callum Sykes, who tragically died in the Pacific Palisades fire at just 32 years old.

Firefighters attempt to extinguish a fire in a home along the Pacific Coast Highway in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood on Jan. 8, 2025. A wildfire broke out in Los Angeles County on Jan. 7, which has destroyed more than 1,000 homes, businesses and other structures, Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone said at a briefing Wednesday.

Dalyce Curry’s death serves as a stark reminder of the dangers faced by residents during wildfire season. Despite her age, her life was abruptly cut short by a disaster that has become all too familiar in California.

As her family mourns, they are joined by a community grappling with loss and devastation. Rest in peace, Dalyce Curry—a woman whose life and work left an indelible mark on Hollywood history.
