A Modest Proposal From Tom Homan

Every liberal I know (or see online) believes that all the chaos here in Minneapolis and other Blue cities is the fault of Trump and Tom Homan. 

At the very least, they believe that ICE should tone down its tactics and everything would be just fine, as it was before they tried to deport illegal aliens. 

If the feds hadn’t invaded, peace would reign in the valley, or something. Mayor Frey has made this case in some form or another many times, sometimes aggressively, and sometimes in tones that make you wonder if his hero is John Brown.

But what liberals seem to miss is something Mayor Frey referred to in that clip from his appearance on Fox News: the chaos only happens in sanctuary cities and states. 

Why?

It’s not, as Frey suggests, that Trump is getting “revenge” on these places. It’s that ICE is trying to arrest criminals with deportation orders or who are high on the list for deportation due to their predation on the communities, and these jurisdictions won’t turn them over even when they have them in custody. 

Rather, they actively impede ICE even when they are trying to sweep up the worst of the worst, so ICE has to deploy in mass numbers to sweep them up. All those other illegal aliens who are getting swept up with them were not the target, but ICE will deport anybody eligible if they get them in custody because they, too, are breaking the law.

Homan has warned from the very beginning that they will deport any illegal aliens they catch, but he also made it clear that they wouldn’t be out LOOKING for illegal aliens not on their target list. That means that the only reason these “innocent” illegals are getting swept up is that the “sanctuary” jurisdictions won’t cooperate with deporting criminal illegal aliens. If they did, all those “neighbors” the liberals are fretting about would never have encountered ICE in the first place. 

Homan recently reiterated this policy and told Walz and Frey that ICE is willing to pull back if they would only turn over the criminal illegal aliens they have in custody. 

Homan, the former acting director of ICE, said on Thursday evening that Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey’s demands that federal agents and officers leave their communities could be resolved “real quick” if the city agrees to let ICE into its jails so that it may take custody of illegal immigrants with criminal records in a safe setting. 

This isn’t a concession—it’s the policy they have been pursuing all along. That’s why in Red states, ICE is doing its job with minimal fuss in the first place. It’s not that ICE isn’t deporting illegal aliens from there. They are. IT’s just that they don’t need to do mass deployments in the same manner as they do in “sanctuary” jurisdictions.

Think about that: all the chaos, the danger, the riots, the danger…all of it…only exists because sanctuary politicians are determined to keep dangerous illegal aliens out of the hands of ICE. They are risking the lives of citizens, ICE agents, and even the criminal illegal aliens, all to make a stand that amounts to: “rapists and pedophiles are our neighbors.”

“Minnesota, the mayor and the governor, could fix this real quick,” Homan said during a telephone town hall with Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-TX).

“Let us in the jail. Stop being a sanctuary jurisdiction, sanctuary state, sanctuary city. Give us access to your jail so we can arrest these criminals in the safety and security of the jail. That way, we don’t have to go into the neighborhood and find them,” Homan said.

“Give us access to your jail.” Boom. Problem solved. 

Except… these politicians and political revolutionaries don’t see the chaos and violence as the problem in the first place. What liberals don’t seem to understand is that the riots and violence are the goal, or at least the tactic they are using to achieve their goal. They don’t want a return to “normality.” The Black Bloc wants revolutionary change, and the local politicians want to boost their political careers by standing up to Trump, or, in the case of Frey and Walz, they want to distract from the corruption scandals and be seen as heroes fighting Bad Orange Man. 

My liberal friends think that is ridiculous, of course. These are “good” people trying to do “good” things, right?

Uh, yeah, no. They are deeply cynical people. If they wanted this to end tomorrow, they could do so merely by HANDING OVER CRIMINALS IN THE JAILS. They refuse. Because they want the confrontation. They are seen as heroes on the left, and the worse things get for ordinary people, the more heroice they look for standing up to Bad Orange Man. 

It’s the same logic we saw, on a grander scale, as we did during the shutdown. Democrats would loudly blame Republicans for shutting down the government, as they voted nearly daily to keep the government shut down. They caused the problem they claimed to be fighting. They alone had the power to end the shutdown, but pretended that it was all the Republicans’ fault. 

Of course, liberals might say that in this case, Trump and Homan could let the criminal aliens stay, as Frey and Walz apparently want. But look at who they are:

•Leny Odemel Ramirez-Santos, a criminal illegal alien from Honduras charged with sex offense against a child – fondling and driving under the influence of liquor. 

•Edwin Amable Ashca Ninasuta, a criminal illegal alien from Ecuador with charges for lewd or lascivious acts with a minor.

•Lenda Neh Mama Epse George, a criminal illegal alien from Cameroon with charges for cruelty toward a child and domestic violence. 

  •German Adriano Llangari Inga, a criminal illegal alien from Ecuador charged with homicide – negligent manslaughter with a vehicle and driving under the influence of liquor. 

•Puol Both, a criminal illegal alien from Sudan convicted of making terroristic threats, burglary, first-degree aggravated robbery, and larceny. 

•Somsalao Thonesavanh, a criminal illegal alien from Laos convicted of drug trafficking and selling a synthetic narcotic.

There are thousands of similar cases. These are the people whom Frey and Walz are sending their ideological ground troops into combat to protect. 

“These are bad people who were taken off the streets of the city,” Homan said. “So work with us. I’m begging people to work with us. ‘Cause I’d rather have a public safety threat arrested in the safety and security of a jail other than going into the neighborhoods.”

The liberal position is that they get a veto on the enforcement of federal law. This is the George Wallace or Jefferson Davis position, and is quite the opposite of “defending democracy” or “defending the Constitution.” 

Yes.

We cannot make this point enough. They are protecting violent pedophiles (etc) who ICE then has to go GET. Other illegals are then clearly also snatched up: a cop gonna be a cop. Protesters who fight ICE will also be arrested and hurt, agents hurt, etc.

Frey and Walz may be saying all the right things to stimulate the ideological romanticism of liberals, but it all boils down to this: they are defying federal law because they refuse to hand over pedophiles and murderers. That is the practicality of the matter. And they are willing to see people die.

Walz said Minnesota is at “war” with the federal government. Democratic legislators are leading the charge. 

It is, quite literally, an insurrection.
