Victoria’s Secret shut down its U.S. website and certain in-store services on Wednesday following a security incident that disrupted online operations and caused a temporary loss in company stock value.

Visitors to the retailer’s website were greeted with a black screen and a message stating that the company had taken the site offline as a precaution.

“Valued customer, we identified and are taking steps to address a security incident. We have taken down our website and some in store services as a precaution. Our team is working around the clock to fully restore operations,” the statement read.

Victoria’s Secret, one of the most recognizable names in lingerie retail, confirmed the disruption was the result of a security issue.

In a statement provided to FOX Business, a spokesperson for the company said that immediate action was taken after the issue was discovered.

“Third-party experts are engaged, and we took down our website and some in store services as a precaution,” the spokesperson said.

“We are working to quickly and securely restore operations.”

The company did not disclose the nature of the incident, nor did it confirm whether customer data was compromised.

It also remains unclear whether law enforcement or federal cybersecurity authorities are involved in the investigation at this time.

Victoria’s Secret’s online operations represent a significant portion of its business.

In 2024, the company reported approximately $2 billion in digital sales, accounting for nearly one-third of its total annual revenue.

The sudden outage and lack of clear details surrounding the incident prompted investor concerns, with company shares falling nearly 7% during trading on Wednesday.

While brick-and-mortar stores under both the Victoria’s Secret and PINK brands remained open nationwide, some in-store services were also affected.

The company has not specified which services were disrupted or whether any customer-facing systems were directly impacted.

The outage comes as major retailers continue to invest heavily in digital platforms amid shifting consumer behavior.

Cybersecurity threats remain a persistent challenge in the retail industry, particularly for companies handling large volumes of sensitive customer data.

Victoria’s Secret has not issued a timeline for full restoration of its website and services but said its teams are working “around the clock” to return operations to normal.

The company is expected to provide additional updates as the investigation continues.

No further details have been provided regarding the extent of the potential breach, the timeline of the incident, or any customer impact.
