President Donald Trump signed a memorandum last week directing a full federal investigation into illegal campaign donation practices, specifically targeting the Democrat fundraising platform ActBlue.
The move follows mounting evidence uncovered by congressional and state-level investigations alleging that ActBlue facilitated illegal contributions, including potentially illicit foreign donations, to Democrat campaigns across the country.
The memorandum, as highlighted by The Gateway Pundit, cited federal law prohibiting political contributions made in the name of another person and by foreign nationals.

It stated, “Press reports and congressional investigations have uncovered deeply troubling evidence that online fundraising platforms have enabled schemes to launder excessive and prohibited contributions.”
It continued, “These activities undermine the integrity of our electoral process… I direct the Attorney General, in consultation with the Secretary of the Treasury, to use all lawful authority to investigate these allegations and take appropriate actions to enforce the law.”

Investigations led by Rep. Bryan Steil (R-WI) and 19 state Attorneys General — including officials from Texas, Arkansas, Florida, and Missouri — uncovered extensive evidence of alleged fraud.
ActBlue reportedly detected 22 significant fraud operations, many of which were tied to foreign actors.
A House investigation revealed that 237 donations were made using foreign IP addresses and prepaid gift cards during a single 30-day period in 2024.
Additional investigations, first reported by The Gateway Pundit and led by researchers Peter Bernegger, Chris Gleason, Draza Smith, and supported by James O’Keefe, exposed networks of “voter mule” operations.
These operations involved individuals being listed as having made hundreds or thousands of small-dollar donations, in some cases totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars, to Democrat candidates through ActBlue.
The allegedly laundered funds reportedly supported the campaigns of Democrat candidates including Mark Kelly, Raphael Warnock, and Tammy Baldwin.
President Trump addressed the investigation on Truth Social, writing: “Hopefully ACTBLUE, the Democrats ILLEGAL SCAM used to raise money, including from not allowed ‘foreign contributions,’ is being looked at by authorities. The Dems only know how to win by CHEATING, something which they do better than any group or party in history.”
Trump also took aim at Democrat Senator Adam Schiff, writing: “The USA is wise to these scoundrels and crooks. Also, why did the Auto Pen give Schiff a Pardon? Biden knew nothing about it. Who operated the Auto Pen? That is the biggest question being asked in D.C. They almost destroyed our Country. They should all be in jail!!!”

Senator Schiff, who previously led allegations of Russian collusion against Trump, responded by accusing the President of economic mismanagement.
“Donald Trump is back to attacking me today because the economy has been in a tailspin under his economic mismanagement. And so have his poll numbers. And the last thing he wants — is people holding him accountable. Attack me as you much as you like, Mr. President, I’m not backing down,” Schiff said.

Following the announcement of the investigation, ActBlue issued a statement claiming that the Trump administration’s actions were politically motivated.
The platform stated, “The Trump Administration’s and GOP’s targeting of ActBlue is part of their brazen attack on democracy in America.”
ActBlue further asserted that it would “immediately pursue all legal avenues to protect and defend itself” and encouraged Democrats and supporters to unite in opposition to the investigation.
