Democrats are charting a swift course towards the most radical of waters. At least, that’s the hope of those in the party still in possession of a full set of teeth. The Democrat Party is bifurcated into two equally stubborn heaps. On the left: octogenarian establishment types. To the left of the left: radical under-forties frothing at the mouth for a revolution.
Case in point? The battle for the Democratic nominee for the New York City mayoral race. Zohran Mamdani, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), is the presumptive Democratic nominee — beating out former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Mamdani’s proposals include “shift[ing] the tax burden from overtaxed homeowners in the outer boroughs to more expensive homes in richer and whiter neighborhoods.” He wants to halt cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). He rallied around “#DefundtheNYPD” in 2020, though now claims he just wants to curb their overtime budget — which seems a form of defunding, if only in part. Mamdani’s most radical call to action is out-and-out Marxist rhetoric. (RELATED: Surrendering Blue Cities Isn’t Common Sense – It’s A Fatal Error)
