All Out of Joy: Trump’s Cabinet Picks Face Bomb Threats, Swatting

0

Earlier today I wrote about a deranged man threatening to murder President-elect Trump and his family. Also today there are stories circulating about the threats made against some of Trump’s cabinet picks. If you tell people often enough that one candidate is Hitler, some people are going to believe it and act on it.

Several of the people President-elect Donald J. Trump has picked to be cabinet nominees or for White House positions received threats on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, a transition spokeswoman said…

Karoline Leavitt, a spokeswoman for the Trump transition team, said several cabinet nominees and others were targeted with “violent, un-American threats to their lives and those who live with them.”

Reports are saying that nearly a dozen individuals haven been targeted in the last 24 hours. So far only some of the names have been released.

Sources told Fox News Digital that John Ratcliffe, the nominee to be CIA director, Pete Hegseth, the nominee for secretary of defense, and Rep. Elise Stefanik, the nominee for UN ambassador, were among those targeted. Brooke Rollins, who Trump has tapped to be secretary of agriculture, and Lee Zeldin, Trump’s nominee to be EPA administrator, separately revealed they were also targeted.

Zeldin posted this on on X a couple hours ago.

His statement concludes, “…thankful for the swift actions taken by local officers to keep our family, neighbors, and local community secure.” Here’s the statement from Brooke Rollins.

Her statement concludes, “… who did their utmost, in both speed and expertise, to protect us — as they protect our community every single day.” And one from Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer who was picked as Trump’s Labor Secretary.

Here’s the statement from Rep. Elise Stefanik:

It reads:

“This morning, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, her husband, and their three year old son were driving home to Saratoga County from Washington for Thanksgiving when they were informed of a bomb threat to their residence. New York State, County law enforcement, and U.S. Capitol Police responded immediately with the highest levels of professionalism. We are incredibly appreciative of the extraordinary dedication of law enforcement officers who keep our communities safe 24/7. We want to share our best wishes to the Upstate NY community for a happy and safe Thanksgiving. We are especially grateful to our law enforcement officers and military families who are on duty over the holiday season.”

Someone also targeted a home in Florida where one of Matt Gaetz’ relatives lives.

“We received notification of a bomb threat referencing former Congressman Matt Gaetz’s supposed mailbox at a home in the Niceville area around 9 a.m. this morning,” the Okaloosa County Sheriffs Office posted on Facebook. “A family member resides at the address but former Congressman Gaetz is NOT a resident. The mailbox however was cleared and no devices were located. The immediate area was also searched with negative results.”

So far it seems Pete Hegseth and John Ratcliffe have not released statements of their own. The FBI has released a statement saying they are aware of the threats. The White House also released a statement saying President Biden is aware of the situation.

Obviously this was a coordinated effort. Someone or some group put together this list of home addresses for Trump’s nominees and carried this out. I think we all know how the media would have treated this if Harris had won and her cabinet was receiving bomb threats. Regardless of who was responsible the media would have rushed to point to this as a sign that Republicans were violent lunatics. But with the shoe on the other foot we probably won’t be getting those columns about Democrats. The “climate of hate” only works in one direction as far as the media is concerned.
