Michigan players carried a team flag toward Ohio State’s logo, sparking immediate reactions from Buckeye players.
Ohio State linebacker Jack Sawyer, who recorded an interception during the game, quickly intervened, ripping the Michigan flag away before tensions escalated further.
Multiple players from both sides could be seen exchanging shoves and words as security, police, and team staff scrambled to separate the teams.

“Unnecessary gesture by the Wolverines,” Fox Sports commentator Gus Johnson said during the broadcast. “They won the game, no need to be disrespectful.”
Reports indicate that police used pepper spray to diffuse the chaotic scene, with some players from both teams being affected.
Michigan players were shown on the Fox broadcast visibly rubbing their eyes and appearing to be in discomfort.
“For such a great game, you hate to see stuff like that after the game,” Michigan running back Kalel Mullings said in response to the altercation. “That’s just bad for the sport, bad for college football.”
Mullings criticized the Buckeyes for their post-game behavior, adding, “Some people gotta learn how to lose. You can’t be fighting and stuff just because you lost a game. All that fighting, we had 60 minutes, we had four quarters to do all that fighting. And now people want to talk and fight—that’s wrong. It’s just bad for the game. Classless, in my opinion. People gotta be better.”
Saturday’s game marked Michigan’s fourth consecutive victory in their storied rivalry against Ohio State.
Despite entering the matchup unranked and as significant underdogs, Michigan pulled off the upset against the No. 2-ranked Buckeyes.
The win brought Michigan’s season record to 7-5, while Ohio State dropped to 10-2.
The heated rivalry between these two programs has long been one of college football’s most anticipated matchups, but the post-game incident has drawn attention for all the wrong reasons.
As both teams move toward the postseason, the fallout from the brawl may overshadow Michigan’s unexpected triumph.
College football officials and both programs are expected to review the incident and take appropriate actions if necessary.
The game may have ended on the scoreboard, but the tensions between Michigan and Ohio State suggest this rivalry remains as intense as ever.
