Alphabet Ideology Is the Hill the Left Is Willing to Die On

Ed wrote earlier about Jen Psaki’s defense of allowing boys to compete in girls’ sports. It is the hill on which the ideologues in the Democratic Party has chosen to die on. 

Her defense of allowing boys to play in girl’s sports doesn’t surprise me at all, as it accords with the witch hunt against Seth Moulton being carried out in, ironically, Salem, Massachusetts. Moulton may not be burned at the stake in modern America, but plenty of his constituents are coming for his seat armed with pitchforks and torches. 

I’ve written two pieces already on Moulton’s sudden about-face on trans issues, which is less based on principles (he has none) than on a recognition of the political reality that Americans think Democrats are insane on this issue.

Alphabet ideology is not an issue that Democrats have flocked to because they think it helps them score political points. After the last election it’s clear that the issue is toxic to their brand and is very unpopular with ordinary people. 

Moreover, if it “isn’t really happening that much,” then why isn’t Psaki willing to jettison the policy position? After all, it’s not popular, and she contends that it affects very few people either way.

Leftists, having abandoned the Judeo-Christian worldview, have become modern-day pagans. They worship Gaia, see Republicans as the Devil and their saints are the alphabet mob and others who climb the intersectional ladder. Participating in politics is a form of worship, and the more extreme the political positions the more fervent the devotion is expressed. 

Hence, the attachment to Antifa, BLM, and, above all, Alphabet Ideology. The less something makes sense the more obviously virtuous one is.

Whether it is Senators abasing themselves over George Floyd by kneeling in the Capitol building or the Biden White House putting out propaganda like this, virtue signaling isn’t just performative–it is part of the religion itself.

This no doubt terrifies the political mercenaries who just want to win elections, who would prefer the Democrats go down the Moulton path of rejecting what doesn’t work. For the mercenaries, this is just about money and power; for the Left, this is about replacing Western Culture with neopaganism.

Were the mercenaries in charge of the party, Democrats could come back from the wilderness very quickly. Americans have relatively short political memories because, well, they just want to live normal and productive lives and will vote for whoever seems best equipped to deliver it. 

The problem the Democratic Party faces is that the median Democrat activist is a true believer in the new religion, while the median American or even Democrat is quite the opposite. They tolerated the nonsense when it seemed harmless but have grown appalled by what the woke Democrats have become. 

Psaki is, unbelievably, more moderate than the typical activist, and she is still insane. 

The more Americans see the Democrats as the party of the freak show, grooming their children, celebrating perversity, worshipping degrowth, and rejecting Western Culture, the farther down the path of irrelevance they will go. 

Individual Democrats will still be able to win elections even in purple areas by appealing to normal people, but the party’s cultural influence will wane until they embrace basic sanity. 

It’s no shock that the most effective advertising campaign this election season was Trump’s They/Them vs You ad. It had nothing to do with hating LGBTQ+ people per se but rather with the cultural disconnect between Democrats and the average American. 

Most Americans don’t care if some man wants to wear a dress. But they do care quite a bit when such men want to erase women and beat up little girls on the playground. 

As Psaki’s rant shows, Democrats can’t learn that lesson yet because of their neopagan religion.
