Two individuals were found dead Monday afternoon in a Los Angeles residence in what police are investigating as a double homicide.

The victims were identified as Robin Kaye, a longtime music supervisor for “American Idol,” and her husband, musician Thomas Deluca. Both were 70 years old.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers conducted a welfare check at the couple’s residence in the Encino neighborhood after the two had not been heard from in several days.

Officers arrived at the home on Monday and discovered both victims with apparent gunshot wounds to the head.

They were pronounced dead at the scene by the Los Angeles Fire Department.

“LAFD responded and pronounced the victims deceased at scene. The motive is unknown. The investigation is ongoing,” the LAPD said in a statement provided to The New York Post.

Sources told TMZ that Kaye’s body was discovered in the pantry, while Deluca was found in a bathroom.

Officers also reportedly located blood in the home’s entryway and observed a broken window, which may have been used by the suspect to gain entry.

Despite these indicators, police noted that the home did not appear to have been ransacked, suggesting the incident was not part of a burglary.

The LAPD confirmed that a previous call had been made to the property on Thursday by a neighbor who reported seeing a person jumping over the home’s fence.

Officers responded to that call but reportedly found no evidence of foul play at that time.

“We didn’t see or hear anything,” neighbor Amee Faggen told ABC 7.

“My renter called 911 on Thursday because she saw somebody hopping the fence.”

Kaye had worked as a music supervisor for “American Idol” for over 15 seasons, according to her IMDb page.

She was recognized for her contributions to the industry with multiple Guild of Music Supervisors Awards.

Her credits extended beyond “American Idol” and included work on “Lip Sync Battle,” as well as Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants.

A spokesperson for “American Idol” released a statement to Variety, saying, “We are devastated to hear of Robin and her dear husband, Tom’s, passing. Robin has been a cornerstone of the Idol family since 2009 and was truly loved and respected by all who came in contact with her. Robin will remain in our hearts forever and we share our deepest sympathy with her family and friends during this difficult time.”

Property records show the Encino home was purchased for approximately $4.5 million in 2023.

It was previously owned by rapper Juice WRLD, who died of an accidental drug overdose in 2019.

The couple’s residence is located in a part of Encino known for its large homes and extensive security features.

Their home was surrounded by tall walls topped with security spikes.

Despite these measures, the area has experienced a series of high-profile break-ins in recent months.

In late May, actor Anthony Anderson’s home was broken into while he attended a charity event.

The investigation remains ongoing.
