Actor and comedian Andy Dick spoke publicly on Wednesday about the drug overdose that left him slumped on a set of outdoor stairs in Hollywood the day before, an incident that was captured on video and widely circulated online.
Dick, 58, acknowledged that he had smoked crack cocaine prior to the medical emergency, as reported by TMZ.

The interview took place inside Dick’s Los Angeles home, where he invited a TMZ photographer to discuss the circumstances surrounding the overdose.
Video from Tuesday showed Dick unconscious on cement steps outside a Hollywood building as two men attempted to revive him.
One shouted for him to “wake up,” while the other administered Narcan, a medication used to counteract opioid overdoses.

This Could Be the Most Important Video Gun Owners Watch All Year
At the start of the interview, Dick said he was “100 percent fine,” later amending the statement to “110 percent.” He was joined by two of the individuals who appeared in the viral footage.
When asked to explain what happened leading up to the overdose, Dick allowed one of his friends to begin recounting the events.
Dick then interjected when the conversation shifted to another individual present during the incident—someone Dick said he had only just met at the time.
Dick explained that he had sat down next to the man, who produced crack cocaine. Dick said he decided to use it, stating he needed “a little bit of that.”
He followed the explanation by saying, “I don’t mind doing some crack every now and then.”
The comedian’s remarks reflected his acknowledgment of drug use shortly before losing consciousness. He did not provide further details on how long he had been with the group or what occurred in the moments immediately prior to collapsing.
Narcan, which was administered by one of the men on scene, is used in emergency situations involving opioids. It is unclear whether opioids were present in Dick’s system in addition to crack cocaine; no toxicology information has been released.
Dick has faced public struggles in recent years involving substance abuse, legal issues, and homelessness. Tuesday’s incident is the latest in a series of high-profile emergencies involving the actor.
There has been no official statement from Dick’s representatives regarding treatment or follow-up care.
