A confrontation between Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and anti-ICE protesters escalated into a physical altercation outside the San Francisco Immigration Court on Tuesday morning.
The incident took place outside the courthouse at 100 Montgomery Street and was captured in multiple videos posted to social media.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, federal agents were attempting to escort a detainee from the courthouse to a transport van when a group of approximately 30 protesters surrounded the agents and attempted to physically block the operation.

Videos show protesters shouting at the agents, grabbing at them, and attempting to obstruct their path as they moved the detainee.
At least one ICE agent, wearing body armor and a mask, was heard shouting, “Stay away from my gun!” amid the struggle.
Protesters reportedly tried to pull the detainee away from the agents as they attempted to reach the van.
Despite the interference, ICE officers managed to secure the detainee inside the transport vehicle.

The situation escalated further when several protesters stood directly in front of the van, attempting to block its departure.
Video footage shows at least two individuals clinging to the van as it began to move through the intersection of Montgomery and Sutter streets.
One person fell off near the crosswalk while the other remained on the front of the vehicle.
The van appeared to sway from side to side as it continued toward Post Street, possibly in an effort to dislodge the individual.
The vehicle eventually left the area, with at least one protester still holding on as it passed another block.

The incident is the latest in a series of tense encounters between federal immigration authorities and anti-ICE demonstrators.
No arrests or injuries related to the San Francisco incident had been publicly confirmed as of Tuesday evening.
Elsewhere, federal authorities are responding to two recent shootings involving immigration enforcement personnel in Texas.
In Alvarado, a shooting occurred at the Prarieland ICE facility, resulting in one police officer being shot.
Ten individuals have been arrested in connection to that case.
In a separate incident in McAllen, a suspect opened fire at a Border Patrol facility, injuring two law enforcement officers and one Border Patrol employee.
The suspect was shot and killed at the scene. Federal officials have not released the name of the assailant or a possible motive in that case.
The Department of Homeland Security has not issued a formal statement connecting the two Texas incidents or the San Francisco confrontation to a coordinated campaign against federal law enforcement, but concerns have been raised about escalating threats toward ICE and Border Patrol agents.
Officials have noted that in each incident, personnel were performing routine duties when they came under attack or interference.
Federal investigators are reviewing evidence and conducting interviews to determine whether the events are isolated or part of a broader trend.
As investigations continue, federal agencies have emphasized the need for public cooperation and urged individuals to avoid interfering with law enforcement operations.
ICE has not released the identity of the detainee involved in Tuesday’s incident in San Francisco.
The Department of Justice and Department of Homeland Security are expected to brief Congress in the coming days on the recent rise in confrontations targeting immigration enforcement.
