A Turning Point USA (TPUSA) campus event at the University of California, Davis was shut down Thursday after a group of violent protesters disrupted the gathering, tore down the display, and allegedly assaulted participants.
The event, part of TPUSA’s “Prove Me Wrong” campus tour, featured former police officer and conservative commentator Brandon Tatum.
According to Turning Point USA, the group’s setup was “completely destroyed by violent protestors,” who dismantled equipment and harassed students.

“They stole the canopy, ripped down banners, smashed foam boards, and even tried to steal the iPad and laptop of a [TPUSA student] field rep,” the organization wrote in a statement posted to X.

The incident took place during daylight hours on campus and was captured on video.
Footage shared by TPUSA shows individuals dressed in all-black clothing and carrying a banner reading “ACAB” — an acronym for “All Cops Are Bastards” — approaching and tearing down the conservative student group’s table setup.

In another, a protester is seen grabbing a sign from a TPUSA supporter before striking the student on the back of the head, while another voice is heard shouting, “Get out of the way, bitch!”
An Antifa member also snatched a TPUSA supporter’s sign and hit her in the head.

TPUSA alleged that university police did not intervene during the confrontation and only responded after the destruction had already occurred.
“TPUSA students were shoved and had objects thrown at them — while police did nothing,” the group’s post said.
“Only after the damage was done did law enforcement finally form a perimeter. This is the reality of free speech on campus.”
TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk also addressed the incident on X, writing, “ANTIFA has vandalized a TPUSA tabling event featuring @TheOfficerTatum, destroying our camera gear, tent, event signage, flipping tables, and assaulting our staff.”
Kirk added, “We are extremely lucky no one was seriously injured in the melee. While our people were under attack, police stood aside and did nothing. Our team is understandably shaken up, but they assure me they will not back down.”
Kirk called out UC Davis directly, saying the school had “the largest Antifa presence” of any campus in the country.
He referenced a previous event from March 2023, where, according to him, “Antifa foot soldiers vandalized the school, smashed windows and fought the police.”
He warned of continued unrest unless authorities take action. “This has gone on long enough,” Kirk said.
“Violent vigilantes like these only fester and grow when they’re allowed to act with impunity like at UC Davis.”
He called for accountability: “Arrests need to be made,” and added, “Radical anarchists will keep resorting to more and more violence if they think doing so will stop conservatives from speaking.”
Kirk urged UC Davis to “credibly show they are willing to protect the constitutional right to free speech and free assembly on a public campus.”
If not, he said, “the Trump Administration should investigate their continued receipt of federal taxpayer dollars.”
He concluded by demanding that university officials “Get it fixed.”

The UC Davis incident follows a similar attack against TPUSA representatives at another campus.
A few weeks earlier, at the University of Texas at Dallas, a TPUSA event was disrupted by a 20-year-old student identified as Liam Thanh Tam Nguyen.
Nguyen, who identifies as a woman, was caught on video using a bike lock to strike female TPUSA leaders during a tabling event.
He was arrested and charged with four felonies and three misdemeanors.
According to Dallas Observer, Nguyen faces two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one count of attempting to take a weapon from an officer, one count of assault of a peace officer, one count of resisting arrest, and two counts of criminal mischief.
