An Australian activist says he was deported from the United States after mocking pop star Billie Eilish over her Grammy Awards speech and attempting to crowdfund a stunt involving her Los Angeles home, as reported by The New York Post.

Drew Pavlou, who describes himself as a “performance artist,” posted on X that he believes Eilish’s legal team contacted federal authorities following his online campaign.

“Billie Eilish got me deported from the US — I think her legal team contacted DHS,” Pavlou wrote. “I spent 30 hours at LAX immigration trying to explain that my s–t posts were just a joke and that I didn’t actually plan to personally move into her mansion.”

Here’s What They’re Not Telling You About Your Retirement

The California Post reported that it reached out to the Department of Homeland Security for confirmation but had not received a response. Efforts to contact Eilish’s representatives were also unsuccessful.

The dispute began after Eilish’s remarks at the Grammy Awards.

During her acceptance speech for Song of the Year, the 24-year-old singer of “Wildflower” said, “no one is illegal on stolen land” and used an uncensored “F–k ICE” while speaking on live television.

Pavlou’s social media posts followed the speech, and he later claimed his comments were taken seriously by immigration officials.

“Honestly, most of the agents were nice and laughed at the idea, but there was nothing I could do, maybe evil leftists are still in charge of sections of the bureaucracy. I guess some people are, in fact, actually illegal on stolen land. And I guess I am just a BAD GUY,” Pavlou wrote on X, referencing one of Eilish’s hit songs.

On Sunday, Pavlou shared what he said was deportation paperwork and described questioning by immigration agents.

“Her lawyers seem to have actually compiled a dossier on me because the agents were asking me about my entire history as an activist opposed to the Chinese government, whether I had ever plotted to assassinate Chinese Communist Party officials; it was legitimately insane,” he posted.

Eilish’s brother and music partner, Finneas O’Connell, reportedly sold his Malibu beach house for $5.66 million in 2022, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Eilish herself purchased a $2.3 million horse ranch in Glendale at age 17, a property that previously belonged to British singer Leona Lewis, Hello! Magazine reported. Forbes estimated Eilish’s net worth at $53 million in 2020.

The Grammy speech sparked additional reactions.

British journalist Julia Hartley-Brewer wrote on X, “The woman is a blithering idiot. Of course, if she really means it, then she’ll happily hand over her multi-million pound Malibu beachfront home to illegal migrants. Which she won’t, because it’s all just silly celeb posturing.”

Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) posted, “Any white person who does a public ‘stolen land’ acknowledgement should immediately give his or her land to native Americans. Otherwise, they don’t mean it.”

In a separate stunt, GB News reporter Ben Leo visited what was described as Eilish’s $3 million Los Angeles mansion and requested entry in a video posted online.

“Billie, let us in, please, Billie. We are here because this is stolen land,” Leo said outside the gated property. “And we think we should be given access to your quite lovely $3 million dollar mansion.”

As of now, the Department of Homeland Security has not confirmed Pavlou’s account, and Eilish has not publicly responded to his deportation claim.
