Actress Alexandra Paul was arrested in Wisconsin over the weekend after authorities said she participated in an animal rights protest that involved breaking into a beagle breeding facility and removing dogs from the property, as reported by The New York Post.
Paul, 62, best known for her role as Lt. Stephanie Holden on “Baywatch” from 1992 to 1997, was among 20 protesters taken into custody for trespassing following the incident at Ridglan Farms in Blue Mounds, located about 30 miles west of Madison, according to law enforcement officials.
Authorities said approximately 60 activists, dressed in white protective suits, entered the facility early Sunday morning. Video from the scene showed protesters carrying beagles as they exited the property.

The action was linked to the Coalition to Save the Ridglan Dogs, a group that has targeted the facility in past demonstrations.

Members of the group stated that 31 dogs were removed during the operation. Officials said law enforcement was able to recover eight of the animals, while several others remained unaccounted for.
“Some of the beagles taken were recovered and returned to Ridglan Farms, but several beagles remain unaccounted for,” Dane County Sheriff Kalvin Barrett said.
Authorities also reported that two vehicles, along with burglary tools and other evidence, were seized at the scene as part of the investigation.
Ridglan Farms has drawn attention from animal rights activists because it breeds beagles used in scientific research, according to local reports. The facility has been the subject of previous demonstrations.
“The Dane County Sheriff’s Office understands how deeply people feel for the beagles at Ridglan Farms, and we respect their right to express that passion through peaceful protests,” Barrett said.
“Our role is to keep everyone safe and to respond when unlawful activity takes place. We encourage anyone with concerns about animal welfare or research practices to engage through lawful and constructive avenues.”
Paul has been involved in multiple animal rights-related incidents in recent years. In 2021, she was charged with misdemeanor theft after taking two chickens from a Foster Farms truck in California.
She was later found not guilty in that case.
