Bessent’s Reported Dissent On Powell Probe Translates To Ominous Warning To Trump

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent reportedly told President Donald Trump that “the federal investigation into the Federal Reserve chair ‘made a mess’ and could be bad for financial markets,” according to Axios, who spoke with two sources familiar with the matter. The call between Bessent and Trump reportedly took place late Sunday. 

“The secretary isn’t happy, and he let the president know,” a source familiar with the call reportedly told Axios. CNN also reported that Bessent “has told people he is unhappy” with the Powell investigation, citing a source with knowledge of the matter. Bessent’s concerns, according to Axios, are twofold.
