Rachel Vindman, wife of former National Security Council member and outspoken President Donald Trump critic retired Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, expressed “betrayal” and “hurt” over her family not being pardoned by outgoing President Joe Biden.

“Whatever happens to my family, know this: No pardons were offered or discussed,” Vindman wrote in a post on Bluesky. Vindman also stated that she “cannot begin to describe the level of betrayal and hurt” that she feels.

Vindman’s social media post comes after Biden announced on Monday that he was pardoning Dr. Anthony Fauci, Gen. Mark Milley, members of the Jan. 6 committee and five members of his family in the waning hours of his presidency. The new pardons came just days after Biden commuted sentences for 2,500 individuals on Friday. (RELATED: Biden Pardons Five Family Members Just Moments Before Trump’s Swearing-In)

Alexander Vindman was the whistleblower who helped to kick off Trump’s first impeachment. Vindman a key witness throughout the impeachment proceedings, was fired by Trump in February 2020 and later resigned from his post in the U.S. army in July 2020. Following the news of an assassination attempt against Trump during a July 13 rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, Rachel Vindman said, “No ears were harmed. Carry on with your Sunday afternoon,” on X, in an apparent reference to the assassination attempt. She later deleted the post and apologized following immense backlash, saying that she should not have been “flippant” about political violence, the Daily Progress reported.
