Beyoncé paused her Saturday night performance in Houston after an unexpected mechanical issue occurred with a stage prop during her “Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin’ Circuit Tour.”

The incident took place during her rendition of “16 Carriages,” when a suspended flying car prop she was riding began to tilt mid-air.

Audience members captured the moment on video as the red convertible, which typically remains upright while suspended above the stage, appeared at a visible slant while moving across the stadium. Beyoncé, 43, promptly called for the performance to stop.

“Stop,” she said, followed by repeated instructions: “Stop, stop, stop.”

Her tone suggested concern, and the crowd briefly quieted before responding with a mix of shouts and cheers.

Once on the ground, she exited the stage briefly before returning to resume the performance.

According to the Houston Chronicle, the prop appeared to stop moving mid-air before being safely lowered.

The exact cause of the malfunction has not been publicly confirmed, though social media reports pointed to an issue with the suspension mechanism.

After rejoining the audience, Beyoncé addressed the crowd with appreciation.

“I wanna thank y’all,” she said. “For loving me. If ever I fall, I know y’all will catch me.”

The Houston incident marks the latest in a series of technical issues that have affected the Cowboy Carter tour.

In May, during the last of five shows at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, another mishap was caught on video when a robotic stage prop failed to perform its programmed function.

During that portion of the concert, Beyoncé was seated on a large gold throne while a robotic arm attempted to pour a drink into a glass located on the throne’s armrest.

Instead, the robot misaligned and spilled the liquid onto the chair. Beyoncé briefly picked up the empty glass, appeared momentarily surprised, and then resumed the choreographed sequence by lifting a remote control as if to activate a television.

The tour also experienced a wardrobe malfunction earlier this month in London. While walking and singing on stage, Beyoncé’s gold fringed chaps detached and fell to the ground.

According to TMZ, she paused only briefly, then slid down to pull the garment back on before continuing the performance.

The “Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin’ Circuit Tour” is a stadium tour supporting Beyoncé’s 2024 album Cowboy Carter.

The tour began on April 28, 2025, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, and is scheduled to conclude on July 26, 2025, in Paradise, Nevada.

The tour includes 32 stadium performances across the United States and Europe. Beyoncé’s return to Houston was part of the final stretch of the North American leg of the tour.

Her Houston performance drew large crowds in her hometown despite the incident, and the remainder of the show proceeded without further interruption.
