A resurfaced exchange between President Donald Trump and Seamus Bruner of the Government Accountability Institute is drawing renewed attention to claims that organized violence and unrest in the United States have been fueled by a well-funded network of nonprofit organizations, foreign money, and taxpayer dollars.
During the discussion, Bruner said the violence seen across the country should be viewed primarily as a financial operation rather than spontaneous unrest.
He told President Trump that researchers at the Government Accountability Institute, including Peter Schweizer, traced funding streams to what he described as a coordinated network they refer to as the “protest industrial complex,” also called “Riot Inc.”
“This is not just a story about violence and chaos, as you alluded to, Mr. President, this is a Money Story,” Bruner said.
He explained that his team followed the funding to a network of NGOs, including what he described as the Open Society network, Arabella, Tides, and other funding operations, along with foreign cash and wealthy left-wing donors.
Bruner said some of the funders are not U.S. citizens and claimed that large sums are being poured into what he called an entire ecosystem supporting unrest.
Bruner said the operation functions like a corporation with multiple divisions.

“Like any corporation Riot Inc, has many divisions,” he said, explaining that it includes not only “the Antifa boots on the ground division,” but also public relations, marketing, and a “very well funded legal division to get these boots on the ground back on the streets as quickly as possible.”
According to Bruner, investigators identified dozens of radical organizations that have collectively received more than $100 million from these funding networks.
“We have identified dozens of radical organizations, not just the decentralized Antifa organizations, but dozens of radical organizations that have received more than $100 million from the riot Inc investors,” he said.
Bruner also said his team found that U.S. taxpayer money has flowed into the same funding streams.
“I think the most shocking thing is that we have found that more than $100 million in US taxpayer funding has flowed into these funding networks, including at least $4 million to these very groups themselves,” he said, citing an Atlanta event known as “Stop Cop City,” where more than 60 rioters were charged with domestic terrorism.
He added that the funding also supports decentralized crowdfunding platforms used by groups such as Antifa, the John Brown Gun Club of Elm Fork, and the Socialist Rifle Association.
“Just because they don’t have LLCs or EIN numbers, doesn’t mean they can’t get paid,” Bruner said.
President Trump responded by pressing Bruner for the identities of those financing the activity.
“Do you know the name of any of the funders. Do you know the names?” Trump asked, saying he wanted the information provided to officials including Kash Patel, Pam Bondi, or Kristi Noem.
Bruner confirmed he would comply.
“Absolutely, we’ll do that,” he said.
Trump emphasized the seriousness of the issue and urged Bruner to continue identifying those involved.
“These are people that do not have good intention for the country, and that’s treasonous, probably so,” Trump said.
“If you could do that, it would be great. Nobody would know better than you. You’ll figure it out.”
