‘Blind’ Justice Peeking Out Underneath When It Comes to Garland vs Bannon

Now, I’m no legal scholar – I just play one here at HotAir – but this recent development seems to be a tad one-sided to my untrained jurisprudence brain.

Lemme toss it out there and see if you agree.

One week ago, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to hold the quavery-voiced, mendacious, perpetually lying sack of carbon Attorney General of the United States in contempt for his refusal to release the Special Counsel audio tape of Joe Biden’s interview.

Not releasing the audio of the interview when the (supposed) transcripts are already in the public realm was the straw that broke the camel’s back after years of Garland’s intransigence, obfuscation, obstructionism, and prevarications when dealing with the GOP-led House. All that without even considering the weaponized form the Justice Department under Garland has assumed – hunting down to intimidate and destroy everyone from little old ladies in abortion clinics to nurses and doctors at ‘gender affirming’ clinics to parents at school board meetings or former presidents and their colleagues.

If the regime – and make no mistake, for it is one – senses the veriest dissent from the slightest of individuals, however righteous, well-intended, or protected by federal statute, the hounds are released.

Everyone is a potential quarry in the DoJ version of The Most Dangerous Garland Game. We are all yacht passengers stranded on his island for Justice to pick and choose the next kill reputationally, financially, or, as J6 suicides and Arkansas housestormings have proven, literally.

It’s all good in Merrick’s eyes.

So it came as no surprise but was still maddening beyond all reason that the Congressional contempt resolution was met with equal contempt by our so-called “Justice” Department.

Basically, “Go away. You bother me.”

The Justice Department on Friday said it has declined to prosecute Attorney General Merrick Garland for contempt of Congress, according to a letter obtained by ABC News.

The House of Representatives voted Wednesday to send a contempt referral to the Justice Department. House Republicans had demanded Garland turn over the audio of President Joe Biden’s interview with special counsel Robert Hur to the House Oversight and Judiciary committees and Garland refused.

“Consistent with this longstanding position and uniform practice, the Department has determined that the responses by Attorney General Garland to the subpoenas issued by the Committees did not constitute a crime, and accordingly the Department will not bring the congressional contempt citation before a grand jury or take any other action to prosecute the Attorney General,” the Justice Department said.

And then Garland’s Lady Justice pulled the blindfold back into place so they could pretend to be “fair.”

First up was Steve Bannon’s appeal of his sentence for – what was that? Contempt of Congress?

Wait. Aren’t we talking the same…guess not.

Bannon gets to enjoy the continued comforts of the hoosgow because his crime is so severe.

BANNON ALSO CANNOT RECONCILE HIS CLAIM FOR SPECIAL TREATMENT WITH THE BEDROCK PRINCIPLE OF EQUAL JUSTICE UNDER THE LAW

How did they write that with a straight face?

They were probably as giddy as Erin Burnett.

Rikers Island for a misdemeanor has her giggly.

To their credit, Thomas Massie and friends introduced a resolution last night that would rescind the J6 sham Committiee’s subpoenas by declaring the sham committee “illegitimate.”

I’d ask why McCarthy, as speaker, allowed this to go so long without rectifying it, but that’s a waste of time. At least somebody’s trying to do something now.

Massie’s got the five-page resolution here, and the ball is now in Speaker Johnson’s court.

And we can kick and scream all we want…

…but until the regime is out of the federal buildings and they’ve been thoroughly fumigated, there’s not much anyone can do to stop the abuses but fight them tooth and nail until we take it all in November. We have to.

And keep a running tote board for when we do.
