BREAKING: Trump Endorses Mike Johnson For Speaker Of The House
President-elect Donald Trump endorsed Speaker of the House Mike Johnson for another term ahead of House Republicans’ vote for their next leader on Friday.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump praised the Republican party for their massive wins in November and said Republicans need to stay united and not “blow” the “great opportunity” the GOP has been given. Trump said Johnson is a “good, hard working, religious man” and will “do the right thing” before saying Johnson has his “Complete & Total Endorsement.”
“The American people need IMMEDIATE relief from all of the destructive policies of the last Administration. Speaker Mike Johnson is a good, hard working, religious man. He will do the right thing, and we will continue to WIN,” Trump said in his post. (RELATED: Mike Johnson’s Broken Promises On CR May Have Just Cost Him The Speakership)
After the mishandling of the 1,574-page continuing resolution last week, Johnson has to gain back the trust of several members of his own party. Johnson is expected to have a 219-215 majority for the Speaker’s election, which means if he loses two votes of support, there could be a new Speaker.

Last week, the Daily Caller spoke with three House Republicans who all shared their frustration with Johnson, and said it will be hard for him to regain the trust of his colleagues going into the Speaker’s election. The lawmakers were granted anonymity to allow discussion on the sensitive topic. All three indicated that his fate may rest in the hands of President-elect Donald Trump.
No other House Republicans have said they plan to challenge Johnson for the Speakership.
